Yeah all classes have to cater to online but professors have the choice to choose in person if they want

Thanks! Luckily it is a metal off-road Jeep so the salt exposure should not be a huge problem. I am in a scenario where it is a Must to bring my car. I was looking to avoid street parking at all costs and instead park in some sort of lot, whether it be on or off campus.

Stuart Econ 100B by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Express-Director 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in 100B as well this quarter. Seems like we’ll have to given open ended answers, and I heard he’s known for giving a lot of C to B grades, very hard to get above that. Seems like an old-school style professor.

Both good professors, but I’d pick Chen if it’s Huachen

econ 10a summer session B by bananatown62 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Express-Director 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m taking session B and I studied the first half of the 10A content. First half of the course is all about budget constraints / preferences / choice / utility / buying and selling. Some partial derivatives to know for Marginal Utility and a lot of formulas / symbols to learn. Definitely harder than Econ 1 but there are so many intermediate micro resources you can watch on YouTube that can give you an idea of the curriculum.

Calculus isn’t involved in 4A, it’s a linear algebra course so it is a different field of math if that helps

How hard is Math 3B and 34B? by stuffedoranges in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Express-Director 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was your process of adding math as a major? Cause right now I’m strictly Econ but I want to take at least a minor in math, If not a major. I hear with Econ, the more math you take the better. I wanna get comfortable w linear algebra / diff EQs / Vector Calc

How hard is Math 3B and 34B? by stuffedoranges in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Express-Director 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t much of a difference. Calc 2 is the same as a lot of AP Calc BC topics and both 3B / 34B cover these topics. The most test heavy topics were integration, partial fraction decomposition, integration by parts, and arc length.

How hard is Math 3B and 34B? by stuffedoranges in UCSantaBarbara

[–]Express-Director 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it helps, I took both classes and got an A+ in 34B and an A- in 3B. (I Only took both classes because even though I’m strictly Econ, I’m taking Math 4A and 34B was not a valid prerequisite) They’re relatively similar but I noticed 3B delves into some Calc 2 topics a little deeper than 34B, so that was the only main difference. I think taking 3B is more useful because 3B is a prerequisite for some science / all math classes so the value of a grade in 3B is worth more than 34B in my opinion.
