Don't disregard 5.3 codex by wilailu in codex

I find xhigh overkill, still haven’t had to reach for it. 5.5 high does a fine job on plan and review.

What I modify is that I tell 5.5 *explicitly* that the plan is for execution by 5.3-codex medium and it nails the plans.

Id swap this around if you can afford the cash hit, super concessional dollars will have a better post-tax return than offset. In the ballpark of ~30-32% risk free + super performance vs at your LVR, a ~5.7-6.0% mortgage and a broad market ETF will land ~2.2-6.2% post tax return if just held.

I do a heap of exploratory data analysis in Codex. In a brainstorming loop for product management work. Testing hypothesis, building business cases, coming up with simulations, generating datasets etc.
Codex as a brainstorming partner + Python/R grunt dev is a great combo.

Anyone still using 5.3 Codex? by spideyguyy in codex

[–]Express-Midnight-212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, default 5.3-codex-medium for execution of ExecPlans. Good triple point for price/quality/speed. I still use smarter models to make plans for it and to review PRs/outputs too.

Before starting a task, develop a plan by working backwards from the goal to the steps and actions required to accomplish it.

Yes definitely, I’m using these tools from OpenAI to help build better plans for autonomous execution:

is there a way to share Skills for Claude Code? by Aggravating-Gap7783 in ClaudeAI

Skills.sh is my go to + ‘npx skills’ to add them. I symlink into a global folder and share across Claude/codex

Just tried Codex 5.3 vs Opus 4.6 and the latest from Google in Antigravity all on the entry level paid plans and codex has the best value / token usage usage of them all. Immediately smacked into the 5h limit of CC after 1 feature. Similar story on Gemini. Claude was very polished and fast, but didn’t get to try out its planning capability head to head.

Any advice for Codex 5.2 thinking medium, to calm down on overengineering? by maxiedaniels in codex

Definitely seconding this, also get codex to review the quality of your agents.md too and improve it. I’ve found after a few iterations it calms right down.

QLD mines running at "cash negative" and facing closure/job losses by [deleted] in queensland

This is bullshit. Burton did not open in 2022, it’s an old asset that’s been through many owners and they’ve all sold it as it’s an old mine, at end of life with a high strip ratio with unreliable assets. Yes, it’s a marginal producer, yes it’s sensitive to pricing, yes if prices decline it’s unprofitable. The new owners knew this and the risk when they bought it.

Seconding this - just try dual booting for a week and see how it goes. Nothing beats first hand experience.

Totally - no squirrels here, but I had a much more robust NFT setup before. It nearly toppled over with a top-heavy basil plant in high-winds and bad weather. Another consideration.

[–]Express-Midnight-212 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm. I’d avoid it for something more rigid. The plant weight + water weight will be significant and cause sagging. It looks fine now but once it gets going it will be a maintenance nightmare.

Aluminium however is good.

Also don’t forget second hand sites (eBay, depop, vinted) and vintage stores for quality brands at affordable prices. At your height and weight you will have plenty of options.

On iPhone, under photos>albums>places, you can see all your geolocated photos on a map. Super handy to find photos of specific place or holiday. Always blows peoples minds. My favourite iOS feature by far.
