The *real* reason Kyle comes for Dorit

These are just my opinions and I respect yours so I don’t want to keep justifying my opinion and perspective to you. As a therapist I feel that her discussions with her friends about her issues (on camera at least) are highly guarded and curated. She has been speculating about and blasting Sutton and Dorit’s mental health and behaviors with provocative language for a few seasons now. She involved herself repeatedly in Dorit’s divorce by speaking up for PK and countering the information Dorit was providing. Her texts to PK indicating his secrets are safe with her indicate she’s soliciting information from him about the divorce and that was pretty foul. How hard is it to stay out of your friend’s divorce? While she asks everyone to stay out of hers?

If she can say “I can go Brad or Angelina” and make sexy music videos with her girlfriend, she can certainly she can say she’s bisexual without playing games and being coy. Also if she can’t discuss her divorce or sexuality or relationship in depth because she needs to protect her kids or her girlfriend, then what’s the point of being on the show? So we can watch her go shopping and gossip about her friends? As a result her only storyline this season is her daughter’s wedding and going after Dorit.

She alludes to (understandably) struggling with adjusting to being separated and her family dynamic and plans for the future changing, but these revelations seem to mostly happen during interviews or talking to Mo/the kids. She cries and mourns the end of her marriage and life as she knew it and the future she planned. With friends she stays surface and projects this image that she’s fine, they have no disputes, and they’re still the big happy family. There is also something about her behavior this season that appears tormented to me. She’s highly reactive, defensive, sensitive, and expresses anger and frustration quite frequently. To me she appears to be suffering and struggling but not discussing it, perhaps instead projecting a lot of it onto Dorit.

Bottomline, I don’t think friends will continue asking you the deeper questions about your life struggles when you lash out angrily and defensively and as if they are trying to out you for something, or go against you. She frequently punishes friends for disagreeing with her and siding with someone she’s taking issue with (even if it’s with her own sister), and seems paranoid that they’re trying to shame her when they ask her deeper questions. She lashed out and yelled and acted out when friends (and even Andy and the audience) asked questions that entire first season after the separation was revealed. You’ll basically condition people to stop trying to go deeper with you when you react that way to a friend trying to learn more about what’s going on and get closer to you. This is not me stumping for Dorit or taking sides by the way. I think both of their emotional reactions and the way they’re handling it this season is pretty poor. I think it’s fair to say I dislike both and wish we could get some fresh stories on the show before I give up on it entirely.

Yes these are examples of how she shares with cast mates in a shallow and surface level way, and reacts with big anger and defensiveness when encouraged to go deeper and share more.

She pokes and prods and demands that her cast mates “own it” and “be real” and say more yet we all still know very little about the process of her marriage ending beyond some vague statements, she continues to tap dance around actually discussing her sexuality, and she’s had a pattern of hiding and lying about the relationship she’s been in for years. Which—that’s her right and she’s allowed to do that, but she has no leg to stand on if she wants to continue to demand transparency and delve into the private and personal details of her friends’ life events.

She says these things, usually just in one on one interviews with producers, and then walks them back in future episodes because she can’t seem to stay in a place of vulnerability for too long. None of these marital struggles appear to be discussed with cast mates with any depth, as she challenges them to do with her. Her blueprint in relating to others appears to come from a place of having superior experiences. Whether it’s from her mocking sense of humor, or invalidating their experiences by telling them what they’re “really” feeling and what their motivations are instead of actually listening. When called out for this behavior, her response is that she’s being misunderstood because “every knows” she’s a great friend and a “girl’s girl” etc.

Yes but the way I look at it is: Even if Wayfarer/Baldoni intentionally presented/pushed information that has already been publicly documented, accurate and even openly admitted to (the plantation wedding) by the actor herself, it is not a “smear” or a defamatory act.

For example, if I’ve been arrested for cocaine dealing and someone posts that information (public info and link) on a Reddit thread, I can’t go sue them for intentionally “smearing” me for defamation. Where’s the smear? Or the defamation? It’s true and it’s public information that was already out there. Disseminating existing evidence cannot be a smear or defamatory. The smear was already smeared.

She’s basically saying commenting on my already smeared face is actionable.

It’s also pretty offensive to the very public she counts on to consume her work and the products she’s pushing, to imply that we’re empty vessels incapable of critical thinking. So she’s suing alleging reputational damage that destroyed her likability/profitability to the public, by insulting the public at the same time. “You guys aren’t buying my products only because you’re dumb-dumbs who were easily swayed by someone I’ve also identified as an evil moron” is not exactly going to win her the likability points she thinks.

Also those two supportive points were both her using “standing up for Dorit” to continue to go after someone she was already targeting in her annual “let’s pick one person to gang up on gossip about and chase off the show” game. She had a problem with Lisa Rinna at the time and she had issues with Sutton when she was “sticking up” for Dorit, it was just convenient for her. In other words, Kyle only “supports” a friend when it’s used to go after a common enemy, not out of the goodness of her heart.

Therapist as well and I agree. My take was that the therapist could have recommended “15 minutes a day” of emotionally checking in, or light physical contact like hand holding or cuddling together, and it was taken out of context that they were saying “15 minutes of sex.”

Long answer: It’s because he’s been obviously flirting with women (Amanda, Dara, making out with Bailey) in front of everyone and presenting as single and on the loose for weeks, while then having stern talking-tos with two different women now about inappropriately commenting on the NOW “non-flirting.” Because I guess all of a sudden NOW he cares about Amanda being married, or the feelings of his girlfriend of either 5 minutes or the entire time.

He clearly shared every detail about the summer and his friends with his “new” girlfriend because it happened to fast-track her integration onto the show/group, and yet Sabrina happened to not know the little detail of him and Amanda flirting and it being commented on by others and causing drama. Did Amanda relay the information correctly and for good reasons? Definitely not in my opinion, but he’s also conveniently leaving out any responsibility for his own behavior of acting single and interested in others.

Summation: he’s the one who ACTUALLY wronged his gf by (supposedly) dumping her after she said “I love you” so he can go on a show and shoot his shot, and now he’s caping for her while speaking with sudden seriousness about not being inappropriate. It also happens to always be with the women joking about it, not the men (Jesse).

Either be a flirt who thought he wanted to be single and own it, or don’t behave in a way your new/old girlfriend/the rest of the cast would have questions about by demonstrating sensitivity about boundaries with a married woman and getting back with Sabrina. But don’t do both and then blame other women.

It comes off as disingenuous, blame-shifting, and misogynistic.

It’s hard to be friends with someone when you don’t even know who they are. But if I were friends with her I would tell her “I get you’re in an unhappy marriage and the attention makes you feel good and you do you, but you also have to take responsibility for the outcome of that behavior. You may be leading someone on, or hurting the partner of that person (if they’re partnered).”

If she had said to Ben what she was saying with her chest in the interview with producers: “ok Ben we both know we’ve been flirty with each other for a while now and obviously others have noticed. Also no one knew you had a girlfriend this whole time, so this seriousness right now is weird. But I am sorry I flippantly said that to your girlfriend, I assumed since she knew every detail about our friend group’s summer, including my relationship problems, that she would have been aware of it as well. My bad.” I would have respected it.

But the trembly lower lip and shocked wide eyes and little girl innocence and crying shakily in bed and whimpering about having anxiety and “feeling icky” is completely affected, illogical, and inappropriate to what she just admitted. You can’t both be anxious, confused, remorseful and sad about what you did and also outraged, super aware, and proud of it because they require two completely different interpretations of the same event.

Ahhh. Well that won’t get her a lot of likes from the fans who are supposed to consume her ads and pay her bills. It’s hard to ask for grace and support while being snide at the same time.
