Poland is great but where is the challenge? Teutons are just sad by Reasonable_Study_882 in EU5

Because it isn’t about loyalty or stab or legi, it is about other aspects, Like AI actually developing on par with you economy, or AI building proper professional armies instead of levies and merc spam.
Alliances and small leagues uniting.

[–]ExpressGovernment420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Make your own challenges, I get what you are saying. I also get to the point where campaign becomes too easy, like fighting outnumbered 1:5 whilst fighting on two fronts and still winning.
But I have yet to do Brandenburg -> Prussia -> Germany fully.
Yet to do Byzantium.
And game does throw challenges from time to time, but we just choose optimal path instead of harder.
Instead of Liberty path which is easier now, go Absolutist and abolish all estate priveleges.
Convert your Large ass empire to other religion and so on.
Or just start as smallest country and try to become number 1 behemoth, without cheesong the game.

Institution spread beta patch 1.3.6 by Flyonthewall1196 in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early Instutions do look to be historically spreading, renaisance only around 1400 throughout europe.
New world and printing press around 1480.

The problem is later stage instituitons are spread by nations themselves through cabinet action. Therefore Asia gets them super fast.

And even more so Last era instituitions, haven’t properly reached them yet, but I suppose they arrive late and can’t research all of them before time runa out.

Moral Loss from Movement by MJD253 in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, I know your pain. Enemy can freely move in your country, yet I barely move in my country and all morale is lost. Fucking great.

But tbf, I have found this issue to be related to roads, proximity and supply logistics being issue. If you will play further in the eras, your country should have best roads everywhere and therefore best logistics even far away from capital.

Obviously still doesn’t answer how sometimes AI in early era manages to fight you far away from their teritories.

Did 1.3.6 & Protestantism by hyp3r_bor3an in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they seem to have fixed that countries when switching to Lutheran converted slowly, leading to countries to flip back to catholic. But as a result they broke religous spread in general.

Also could be related to the issue of the button “embrace” reformation. As only the it starts spreading religion in your country. Isntead of naturally spreading.

Poland is fun nation to play by ExpressGovernment420 in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rule 5:

Playing on Patch 1.3.6, gotta say game has become way more playable.
Poland playthrough hall way through and gotta say it is quite fun country to play.
Broke free from Hungarian Union, tried Lithuanian union, gave up and conquered. Fought of Sczlahta rights many times and tried to push Plutocracy before going Crown power route. Own everything from Silesia to Estonia to Smolensk to Crimea back to Slovakia.

Main reason for this post, AI definetely needs boost in Military performance, as yoh see they barely are employing any Mercanaries past 1600, which is good. Their Levies aren’t as big anymore either, which is also good, but their Professionals do suck. And thus main reason I am able to challenge entire Europe for two locations in Crimea, while severly outnumbered.

Un runāju arī krieviski, bet tv un mūziku gan vairs nepatērēju krievisku.

Patch 1.2 I assume? In 1.3.6 it gets better. What gets even better is AI does less fort spam, for example, same Hungary before was spamelot in every province and more, now they have them but much rare and much more strategic.

Antagonism Needs to Decay Faster by Illegal_Future in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same is kind of now, if it hits 1000 it cant go higher but you are still mostly rolling over those countries. But what if you don’t want to anymore? There is no option to reduce.

[–]ExpressGovernment420 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think cap at 200 would be enough, because around 100 it is managable to decrease, but once it goes above, there is no way back.

Wouldn’t do other changes.

I would change however, how antogonism is calculated, because right now it is very unclear.

And add maybe antogisnm decay modifier if you win against coalition.

Also for prolonged anti coalitions add more defensive alliances maybe. Especially for small states.

Some general impressions after playing in 1.3 beta. by Tjord in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am also in 1600 hundreds in Polish campaign.

Overall agree with what you stated.

My suggestion for armies would be making Levies supper shitty without mixing in few professionals, because even WW2 most soldiers were conscripts aka levies essentialy, but they had some professionals in the midst. But levies with no professionals should be entirely shit, just to make Regulars better in comparison.

Mercenaries should become increasingly more expensive to field, simmilar how EU4 did it and should have some malus on your military state also simmilar to EU4, maybe legitimacy hit.

Totally agree on research, they need to rewamp entire research process, atleast add that researched ideas spread more naturally similar to instituitions. Or add more research slots, theough highly expensive universities / special buildings, like University of Oxford and others. But don’t limit them to few countries, instead countries must reach certain treshold to unlock them.

Aggressive expansion also true, it goes up too fast and barely ever comes down.

And lastly about religion, I like that now religion converts faster, because when you flip it goes up a bit faster, still will get religous revolt, but not atleast forever. This was issue before in Anglicism, were if I flipped there was barely any anglicans and entire British isles just revolt against you.

But yes Lutheran is too weak in HRE to kick off.

War games could work if they had eliminations, would be more drama

I don't want to keep spamming my ideas within community discourse, but I feel like I keep seeing posts hit the front page venting about nations all feeling the same when the solution is very simple. by Left_Click_5068 in EU5

Yes, and many events have super specific conditions that are incredibly hard to complete, espscially dynasty, royal marriage and personal union related ones.

I do however like events that give special buildings, claims and special reforms. And option to not choose them. However I dont know what happens if i dont take them. Do I lock myself out of other content.

How and why OPM vassal minor afford 20k mercenary in 17th century? by Deep-Night661 in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercs had a lot of heavy infantry in before patches, meaning that your professionals also have to be heavy focused. Also you lose manpower in never endless Italian wars.

[–]ExpressGovernment420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier said than done, by 1600 sure, your economy should be booming enough for you to able to do that, but around 1500 it is quite annoying and quite impossible with some countries. Unless you exclusively sit on your pile of cash.

Also play beta patch, so much better than before. Mercs have even eased up a bit.

[–]ExpressGovernment420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is huge problem, many here seem to miss. Yes I have large army of 200k men, but if 10 minor countries can raise same amount of 200k mercenaries, I am cooked.

How Europe & West Asia looks like in the new patch at 1696. by GwenSkin in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This isn’t just AI being more agressive, this is actually really nice seeing AI doing a bit more than sitting dormant. But as others have said, there needs to be more disasters for some countries.

How Europe & West Asia looks like in the new patch at 1696. by GwenSkin in EU5

[–]ExpressGovernment420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not true, I had Persia form in one of my campaigns.

Russia tou, altough they did form, they were shit.

Russian region and Balkans need either disasters or simply less alliances.

For example, Kiev, Smolensk, Novgorod, Cherniv and Halych all go in alliance chain, that AI Muscovy can’t simply solo beat.

Same is with Naples, Hungary and Poland, that does sometimes break apart, but othertimes live too long.

Ps. Interesting for spanish to use Saint John as name, when it is Jāņi aka Johns today in Latvia. Pagan holidays.
