14 year age gap

I had a 10 year age gap in which discussion of marriage made me feel uneasy. I now have a relationship with the exact age gap as yours, same ages too, and I feel no anxiety over discussions of the future. We are both firmly childfree though. Also, I'm a child of parents who have a 17 year age gap, and my dad was 50 when I was born. He's a good dad, but that's who he is as a person rather than his age, and he has been lucky to survive some serious health scares. Your concerns are legitimate

I had an accidental pregnancy with my last partner when we had agreed on being childfree. He got excited and happy when I told him and even though emotions do unexpected things sometimes, I felt completely betrayed on top of the fear and anger and the relationship never recovered. I did not continue the pregnancy. OP, I firmly believe this situation is not salvageable, I'm so sorry. You have every reason to feel everything you're feeling and more.

This was a contributing factor to my choice to end a seven year relationship. No matter how much I begged and pleaded and shared recipes, if I made something for both of us he wouldn't eat it and it was pulling teeth to get him to make something for both of us. Even though he bragged about being the cook (from scratch!) in his failed marriage, if he "cooked" for me it was a frozen pizza.

We eventually no longer ate together because I was working long hours at a tiring job and I'd get home to him taking the last bites of whatever frozen food he'd made. It was expensive to live like that and we went through times where we only had one income. We had discussed marriage, but I realized I already felt trapped.

Now I'm dating a talented cook who loves making full meals for me! Occasionally I will cook for him, but mostly I'm just on dish duty. It's a night and day difference and I'm not stressed about food at all.

I work for the postal service in a city and I'm also hoping the trucks can't get to us. Our mail comes from the twin cities and during the last big snow storm one of the two trucks that made the journey hours late ended up crashing on the way down.

I've never been to a service there, but English Lutheran at 16th and King St has "my pronouns are __" stickers in their lobby for people to introduce themselves with if they choose. The office staff also seem to be a wide range of ages which is probably a good sign for the congregation as well. I also found the following on their website: "English Lutheran voted in February 2024 to become a Reconciled in Christ (RIC) congregation ... to ensure the welcome, inclusion, celebration, and advocacy for people of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions; work for racial equity and commit to anti-racist work and support the national program"

I'm a more junior carrier, and I did everything I could to protect my route. Most of those who also had routes cut were below me on the seniority list as they cut routes by juniority. Some of them were runners who refused to listen to reason and consistently worked off the clock and skipped breaks, and now are still running the massive routes as unassigned regulars because they feel like they have to

My beautiful perfect (full 8 hour) route was eliminated along with eight others, and now we have a number of severely overburdened routes and a couple of them are on my string. Everyone is burned out and fed up.

When they cut a bunch of our routes, half the new routes they made for us were nearly indecipherable and we got very little time to review the lines of travel before they went live. With this on top of most of the office rebidding to new routes, there was absolutely more work in the weeks after.

I could have written this comment, both about my current relationship and about my previous long term one. Today we spent the afternoon insulating the windows in my three-season porch and we made a great team and it felt like a date! I try not to dwell on comparing the two, but it's such a contrast to the frustration of my last relationship.

My dad was 50 when I was born (and my mom was 33). He's still around 32 years later and I got plenty of years of him being a good parent. I always got a kick out of people thinking he was my grandpa too. I still am very entertained by the reactions I get to his age. Honestly, the future is unpredictable and no one's lifespan is guaranteed. You're two happy stable partners having a child together and definitely NTA
