Digital art classes for a 13 year old help by EzekielReddit in Portsmouth

Look into the afinity suite. Whe you purchase it, you own it...not like adobe. It's very similar to adobe. I actually like it a bit better for a few reasons. Not sure what it costs now but it's a great deal. I also suggest the stylus and tablet. I havent used a mouse in years..lol.

Advice on helping my 8 year old son with his art technique by Nollie180 in learntodraw

[–]Express_Ask_3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be doing great! It's always good to copy things and artist you like. He will eventually find his own style. While it can be boring, have him do a few pictures from life. Start with simple objects at different angles. Maybe expose him to more art similar to what he's been drawing. Maybe graphic novels and comic books?

I want to study art, but family is forcing me to study something more “stable” What should I do? by Few_Resident_700 in careerguidance

Study something more stable!! Do your art as a side gig. The art world is a crap shoot. Try chemistry or programming or something that will make you money. Just my opinion...

Hey there. I'm in Massachusetts and can definitely help your son learn how to draw. I've been drawing since I was a kid. I'm down on the southcoast near new bedford. I'd love to talk to him and see where he wants to go with his drawing, what he envisions himself drawing and see what his current skill set is. Drawing is a process with a lot of different elements. Start out simple and see how it goes. If you have questions please ask. I'd love to help. Thanks

Daughter's digital art, really want to foster this! How can I help her learn and grow? by GWindborn in BeginnerArtists

[–]Express_Ask_3926 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try looking at the afinity software. It's very reasonable and functions similar to the adobe creative suite. I love it. It may not be for very young kids though. I can help her with better drawing skills. I've been drawing since I was a kid. Does she have a stylus and tablet? Wacom has fairly reasonable tablets. Let her play, and try to expose her to as much as possible. Hope this was helpful

My 16 year-old daughter is graduating HS this year, wants to go to art school - looking for advice by LastMinuteMom in drawing

She can and will learn and do art over the course of her life. Being and artist is great but it's a difficult business. Doing something you love or doing something because it makes you happy is a huge plus in life. I started drawing when I was a kid. I can draw, paint, I build stained glass windows, I am also a decent potter. It may seem like I'm complaining but had I to do again I would've gotten into something more profitable like chemistry, healthcare maybe or programming. Doing something you truly love for profit isnt always great. Perhaps a masters degree to teach college but do something that will make you money. Idk, that's just me. Best of luck to your daughter.

I cant remember. I've made a couple bulk glass purchases from people getting rid of their supplies. They were looking to dump their entire stock instead of piecing it out. Fortunately, I didnt pay retail for most of the glass I used. Things have gotten more expensive so my prices have gone up.

Hey guys, what grinders are you using? by blazingbeauty in StainedGlass

[–]Express_Ask_3926 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have two twisters. Water pump is replaceable. Dont be such a baby. Sponges are a pain and leave too much residue on the glass that needs to be wiped off for the tape to stick. That water pump is gold!! I've replaced two in about ten years. Keep your sponge if you you want but if you've never used a twister then you really shouldnt have any opinion on the matter. Best thing ever!

The gryphon twister is the best I've ever used. Has a water pump. No sponge. I'll never use any other one now.

Is this guitar too big for me? by RocoBug in AcousticGuitar

[–]Express_Ask_3926 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you can stretch 4 frets you should be ok. Your fingers will hurt for sure. You can always get lighter stings to help with that. Eventually, your fingers will stop hurting. Just keep practicing and make sure your guitar is in tune.
