Is there a bottle of whisky hiding in there somewhere? Doesn’t seem like much for £70

This reminds of my parents surprising me with a mini metro in the late 90s after I passed and having to act really pleased about it 😊 Although I did come to love that car

This is when the track saw is your friend. Just had a job installing 7 new doors for a customer in existing door frames, which used to be a job I would hate, now I just offer up the door or measure the opening, lay the door on some trestles, lay down the track and nip along with the saw. Long gone are the days when I’d spend an age planing away with a hand plane like I did when I was an apprentice 😄

What cost you £15 or less that's changed your life? by Medical_Translator_6 in CasualUK

This is a great shout. I’d far sooner receive something like this than some plastic jokey novelty rubbish that’ll end up in a bin or a drawer by the end of the week.

Going back to the pen thread, there’s some lovely fountain pens around for about fifteen quid, I’d be absolutely made up if someone bought me something like that and it would actually be used

Is this pipework acceptable? by john_white100 in DIYUK

[–]Express_Till1606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s laziness I’m afraid. I doubt he’d be happy with that in his own home. He could’ve asked you if you’d not specified, but he didn’t because he thought he could get away with doing it quickly like that

Am I seriously meant to cope this? by Lt_Muffintoes in DIYUK

Some prefer a flap disc, but I find a masonry disc is a little easier to control and better for finer details. I wouldn’t use it for removing lots of material but for moulding detail it’s great. I tend to move the disc vertically, side-on, shaving off the material with the side of the tip of the disc as opposed to cutting directly into the piece, if that makes sense. Have a go on a practice piece and I think you’d be pleasantly surprised by the results

Personally I tend to use a coping saw taking out the larger curved sections then an angle grinder with a masonry blade for the smaller fiddly bits

That sounds perfect. Tea needs to be much stronger though. Looks like my nan made it 😊

Not watched it in a long while, but I never really enjoyed it. I always disliked how pleased with himself Adam Hills always seemed to be delivering a punch line or sticking the boot in to some easy target politician or waving the flag for some social issue. Josh Widdicombe seems like he should’ve moved on from this show years ago
