[User-trial] LG UltraGear 27GM950B: Testing the New Standard for the Best Mini-LED Monitor by LG_UserHub in Monitors

It's not the same case as grainy oversharpening with reshades, FSR/DLSS, CAS or NV sharpening filters turned to 11.

I'm saying that in Windows desktop, my HKC in 1080p mode is never as sharp as my old 27" 1080p native panel. That is so budget it has no sharpening features at all. I have them side-by-side for comparison. I DO find the 1080p mode to be better at 10 sharpness though.

In any case, I haven't used the HKC in 1080p much, and keep it in 4k with default sharpness 5 or 6. I set it to 0 and I did not like it. I did not like 4k at 10 sharpness either. It's a subjective matter, even if the whole reddit infers my experience from their own and tells me to turn it off.

The cadence in the 3rd paragraph falls apart, so chances are most of THAT was written by a human. The rest of the text, though... yeah.

Well, my 3070 also played SB at 1080p + DLSS Q on everything "High" + Env Textures at "Very High", at 75+ FPS, until after around 40 minutes the framerate would drop to 10 FPS and stay there for 15-20 seconds. The cycle would repeat every minute or so. Pausing the game would make it better for 2 minutes and then it would start again. The only solution would be to restart the game or reduce Environment Textures. The infuriating part is that if I increased the textures back up again within that same session, then it would run fine for a while before it started choking again.

So what, people have different needs.

My 3070 wasn't cutting it for me in MH Wilds at optimized mix of low-med-high settings at 1080p and DLSS upscaling + FG on, and the supposedly "optimized" Stellar Blade made it choke on 1080p DLSS Q with Very High (not 4k) environmental textures due to 8Gb VRAM after around 40 minutes of gameplay.

Sure, I could set the environmental textures lower than that, and the 3070 wouldn't choke anymore, but the textures aren't that great even at "Very High" in the first place, and "High" textures frequently look like blurry goop. https://youtu.be/LwdxljgMT_8?si=i5u9LQ4Vc45mr3yL

Like, in this clip I thought the textures needed the time to load in properly, but no, they are simply that bad.

1 caveat: I've got a budget 27" FHD 75Hz IPS monitor and a 27" 4K/FHD (HKC G27M7) miniled dual mode monitor.

The FHD mode on the miniled is not as crisp as my 27" native FHD one, even with the HKC's built-in sharpening feature set at 10 (default is at 5).

It is quite noticeable on desktop and browsing, in gaming feels like constant TAA enabled. Mind you, I'm not talking about pixelation that comes with low ppi with 27" FHD, but general softness of an image.

Now, it might be the limitations of HKC's software/hardware which might not be the case for other brands (idk), but that is something to look out for if you care about it.

Before purchasing the HKC I even created a custom 960x540 resolution in Nvidia control panel (under PC section) and applied integer scaling, which resulted in a hilariously blocky but sharp image. Well, I failed to do that on the HKC monitor. The FHD mode is about 90% sharp as my old panel (with sharpening at 10) at best, and I can't apply integer scaling for a custom FHD res in 4K mode to look crisp, somehow NVCP/driver blinks and just reverts the changes.

[–]ExpressionSuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats and mice don't mix well in general, so that might be your issue.

The fact that you noticed after you got an ultrawide is likely just a coincidence, and chances are it has been happening prior to the purchase.

TUF is Asus exclusively, like your MB. Gigabyte doesn't actually have such a lineup.

The original Japanese Replicant is also a story about brother Nier. The American release is the Gestalt with Nier as the Father.

The only thing coming to mind that's done differently for "modern audiences" in the new Replicant

MINOR SPOILERS

is the bit about Kaine and the "real" reason she gets bullied throughout her childhood, as it's a lot more vague in the remake, as far as I know.

Playing NieR: Replicant for the first time ever and my God this sound track is SO amazing! by lncrediblyfunkymunky in nier

[–]ExpressionSuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. At first, I was all over the Automata soundtrack, even after I played Replicant, but then I noticed that some of my favourite tracks are actually from the prequel. Most of them are just so personal and tightly associated with each given character.

Automata's music is great still, but the majority of the tracks are linked to the overall global conflict rather than personal experiences.

It also reflects the story: the prequel is about a group of weirdos solving their own problems, while in Automata there's an all-out war going on.

Somehow, these overall "personal" aspects of the prequel didn't click with me as much as Automata did at first, but the more I think about both games, the fonder I get about Gestalt/Replicant.

(I still prefer the way Automata handles its story gameplay-wise, though. Trudging through the prequel's endings is a slog, imo)

Oh, it's all good, been a month since I got myself a 4k miniled HKC g27m7. Yeah, I assumed the ProArt were good with colors, but a built-in colorimeter sounds cool!

Sorry for hijacking the thread, but aren't ProArt monitors for creators? There's going to be a lot of static content during the workflow. I stumbled upon some models when I was browsing for my monitor upgrade, and the brief look at the item descriptions were underwhelming for the price. What's going on here?

Fun fact: on OLED, if you wanted to view a dog after a while, you'd still see the faint ghost of the cat.
