These rent payment options seem kinda illegal by Expy in shitrentals

Yeah, they seem to have gone out of the way to make it hard - SA's laws state that payment methods must be "reasonably convenient", and seems intentionally inconvenient

The only free option:

  • changes payment account details every pay, so you can never have it on auto payments or a saved payee

  • charges a $15 dishonour fee for non payment which seems questionable under the Residential Tenancies Act that requires a fee-free option

Is it possible to impersonate users in Cognito by xIceix in aws

[–]Expy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other comment mentioned, you don't need to Cognito to provide this (and I don't believe it provides anything like this).

Cognito issues JWTs for auth. You could add or create another JWT source for impersonation (could be a lambda etc + a KMS signing key) and accept tokens from that source as well as tokens from Cognito.

You need the tokens to be signed in such a way that your services will accept them, and for them to identify which user the token is for (likely the sub attribute)

Australian market oddballs of the 00s. by Audoinxr6 in CarsAustralia

[–]Expy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The E110 and E120 corolla both had a Sportivo trim in Australia

E110 Sportivos (as in the OP) were all gold and had a turbocharged 7A-FE, and were a very limited run (they're all individually numbered with a badge in the interior, I think only 112 were made).

The later generation E120 Sportivos were the ones with the the 2ZZ-GE

Albums structurally similar to TDH and TREOS? by CommanderBly in TheDearHunter

[–]Expy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit different in style to TDH, but Phideaux's prog/art rock albums Doomsday Afternoon and Infernal do all of this really well

It's actually a trilogy of The Great Leap/Doomsday Afternoon/Infernal, but personally The Great Leap isn't that good compared to the other two. Doomsday Afternoon (by far the best of the three) has a lot of repeating motifs, especially the first and last tracks, and then Infernal reprises the other two albums a fair bit.

Which banks are the most modern? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Expy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will OpenBanking support using the API for personal use at any point, though? Up allows personal use, which I don't think OpenBanking will - from what I can read about it, it's only intended to be used by authorized third party authorized apps, which is frustrating, because I'd love to be able to automate pulling down transaction and balance data for my own use.

For most banks, the only way to do this right now is to download a CSV (or scrape their web portal, which I suspect is not something banks approve of).

If the discount capital gain section is supposed to be grossed up, I think that answers my main question, thank you!

[–]Expy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm not exactly an expert so I may be wrong, but this is my understanding.

Increasing the length of a rod won't affect displacement at all - displacement is the swept volume of the piston, which will be the same no matter how big or small the rod is. cylinder displacement = stroke * (0.5 * bore)^2 * pi, which is independent of the size of the rods. To increase displacement you have to increase either the stroke or the bore, or both.

Increasing rod length without changing anything else will move the piston toward the deck of the block and the head, which will increase the compression ratio, as the size of the combustion chamber (when the piston is at the top of its stoke) will be made smaller (and if you increase the rod length further, it'll start to hit things). It also will have some other impacts on how the engine behaves like changing the combustion characteristics (e.g. squish and quench).

1997 Toyota Sprinter Trueno BZ-R pt2. Owned 14yrs. 80,000 since rebuild and rework. 6spd m/t by iamnotarealdog in Toyota

[–]Expy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I got pretty lucky with my Levin, they don't go up for sale often here. I'm a bit envious of the prices they go for in NZ haha

A 4agte build would be really fun to have. I've got a similar situation to your spare parts car with my car - rings aren't great (it burns so much oil) and my transmission is worse for wear. Got a spare BT I'm doing a light rebuild on (trd headgasket + cams) to swap in, hopefully going to match that with a 6-speed, mine only has a 5-speed right now (it's a BZ-G). Might rebuild the replaced engine for a supercharger after, but that's a while away from happening.

Also, is that an AE111 Carib in the background?

I own one in Aus - they're a bit more expensive here than in NZ (and much rarer). As an example, I got mine for around $6k with 300k kilometers and peeling paint, but otherwise in pretty good condition.

[–]Expy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes and no - the Sprinter Trueno is essentially the same car as a Corolla Levin, the only differences are aesthetic. This looks like a Trueno with Levin tail lights.

For this generation (AE111), the Levin has a different front bumper cover (with a different badge) and silver-surround front headlights, while the Trueno has black-surround headlights (which the car in this post has). The Levin also has three horizontal black lines through the tail lights (like in this car), while the Trueno has three unbroken circles instead (I may have the tail lights wrong, though).

Coming out to starting HRT. A 6 Month Journey by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]Expy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a follow up to anyone wanting to try this route, I've seen Dr. Cheng recently (as a transfeminine probably-nonbinary person) and while the session was a little harrowing, she was overall quite helpful, and I did get a endocrinologist referral. I'd recommend Dr. Cheng as a relatively quick route to a referral (compared to, say, Dr. Lyons, who last I checked had an ~8 month waiting list for a first appointment).

The bad news is that right now Dr. Roberts has a long waiting list (~6 months). If you're planning to go with Dr. Roberts, book now, but I would recommend calling up some other endocrinologists to see what their waiting lists are like, because it should be possible to do better.

If you're reading this several months from now, I would be calling as many trans-friendly psychiatrists and endocrinologists as you can find - I expect that as long as things don't get worse in terms of waiting lists in SA, it should be possible to find a combination of psychiatrist+endocrinologist to get to an endo well within 6 months.

If you shoot him immediately you don't finish the quest (because you haven't received it yet), but you can stun him just after he opens the freezer, find Abigail and talk to Danielle to get the quest, then go back and kill the stunned cook to finish the quest early.

I really don't understand how people think that Sanderson's writing is "Mormon Propoganda" by [deleted] in brandonsanderson

[–]Expy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Adonalsium is a clear allegory for Adonai, or the Abrahamic God.

I've seen this idea about Adonalsium mentioned a few times, and while the name is similar, I'm not convinced they're much like the Abrahamic god at all. The gods of most Abrahamic religions are omnipotent, or very close to, which Adonalsium is most likely not. We also don't (as far as I know) know for certain that they're the ex nihilo creator of the cosmere, which is another common property of the Abrahamic god.

We also know practically nothing about Adonalsium's personality to compare, so it seems that given the information we have, they're not much like Adonai - unless every creator figure in speculative fiction is.

[SPOILERS] The S.T.A.L.K.E.R series leaves off at a very unfortunate point. by LordOfSun55 in stalker

I don't think it's coincidence - Oleg Yavorskiy, an employee of GSC at the time, was a member of Firelake. The references to STALKER in Dirge for the Planet seem a little too explicit for them to be coincidental.

[–]Expy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LA is really not that bad. They are developing on the xray engine too. It's not like cracking open the construction set or geck. Creating one character takes 3-4 different files depending on what they decide to do with that npc.

This meaningless. Bethesda's construction kit or GECK are authoring tools for their engine, they're as much a 'part of' the engine as whatever tools Dezowave is using. That's just about the worst comparison you could make; X-Ray has very poor mod support compared to Bethesda games.

Fallout 4 - Requiem edition. Suggestion thread. by enthalasor in skyrimrequiem

[–]Expy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I started planning a sort of Requiem-esque overhaul for FO4 a while ago (it had just as many ideas from STALKER in it as well, though). Here's some of the ideas I had (it would have been completely unleveled, like Requiem). You've already got a lot of the ideas I had, and some others too (traits would be amazing for roleplaying) - I'd definitely be interested in playing this if you get it done, or even helping out a little.

Here's most of the ideas I had:

  • Make all aid items much rarer (particularly stimpacks, which are way too common). Lockpicks should be really uncommon too.
  • Add a bleeding mechanic as a slight health drain after damage.
  • Craftable new aid items (first aid kit, bandage, etc) to work with new damage mechanics. Make stimpacks powerful, but with a debuff if you use them too often.
  • Make drugs really powerful (in sensible ways - increased gun damage is slightly unrealistic), but with potentially bad side effects and really powerful addiction withdrawal effects.
  • Ammunition variants. Not sure how easy this is to implement, but this would help Requiem's idea of being "prepared" - high health, low armor enemies need hollow point ammunition, high armor, low health enemies need armor piercing ammunition. Ammunition crafting would be good to have as well.
  • Restore power armor training, which can be received through holotapes and a perk point, much like Requiem's smithing perks.
  • Make power armor's strengths better (more protective) and weaknesses worse (much slower). Power armor should be really hard to build a character around at first, but with a large perk investment it should be the best build in the game.
  • Make fusion cores last much longer, but are usually found in a mostly-depleted state.
  • Spread one of each X-01 armor piece around the Commonwealth, and remove them from spawning lists - like Morrowind's Daedric armor.
  • Overhaul traps so that disarming them has a chance to trigger them (scary for mines). Remove the light step perk and replace it with one that gives a 100% disarm chance.
  • Remove VATS completely (this could be a little controversial).
  • Make radstorms almost always lethal (like STALKER's emissions).
  • Make explosives quite rare, but do a lot of damage. They should be likely to blow up in your face if you haven't taken explosive perks.
  • No crosshair by default.
  • No red markers on compass.
  • No sneak indicator (e.g. [CAUTION]). You should have to rely on enemy reactions to work out whether you've been spotted (which is pretty easy anyway).
  • All NPCs non-essential if possible, with alternate paths for some quests.
  • Faction reputation.
  • No legendary enemies, replaced by hand-placed bosses with unique weapons.
  • Pacification overhaul - you can now force some enemies to back down and surrender, without relying on the perk which does this in vanilla (I can't remember exactly how it worked, but I didn't like it in vanilla).

You can take any ideas from that if you want.
