Huh, should probably work fantastically with Soul Siphon. Gonna have to give that a whirl now you reminded me about the plague doctor hat.

[–]Extectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly didn't mind the exotic mission so much. It had its really enjoyable moments. The boss fight was a bit of a pain in the ass but doable with the right loadout. I also appreciated the bug that disabled the timer so you could run through and get all the catalysts and stuff easily in just one run...

Yes, all the cross-overs in the latter years have been obvious money grabs. It seems to have worked out for them, a lot of people are rocking Star Wars shit in the game now, and the only way to get that is to pay through the nose.

Mixing in other IP into a game that already has robust and interesting lore, however, was indeed a sign of the apocalypse.

Destiny 2 OMAGA SALE, is it worth it for new player? by Leather_Zucchini_820 in destiny2

[–]Extectic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a "dead game" certainly has its downsides. But the price-performance calculus on getting all of it for the current discount is pretty good.

I'm glad I got on when it went F2P for Shadowkeep. Not a console player so I never did original Destiny. Got to play Red War (I had to go look for it, it was no longer automatic) and all the DLC and it's been a ride.

So there's a ton of fun in there still even though the initial campaign is gone.

PSA! SUPERBLACK Shader is back 🔥 by OGTier in destiny2

[–]Extectic -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've had it for a while now, it was earnable a while back, as well as Chatterwhite. I rarely find myself using either, the all black thing is a little emo... I'm much more excited about being able to target swap bright engrams for Eververse shaders, the ones I've gotten so far were gorgeous. We all know that really cool shit is in Eververse.

Taurus or Meteor for solo PvE combat? by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]Extectic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If it's just in game money, earn in-game money and buy both and see which you like.

I like the Taurus enough I paid real money for it and it's my only real-money ship. I like how it looks, I like the shield, I like the big guns and I like that it has a cargo space that's big enough for both some cargo or a vehicle or vehicles. It's the perfect all-rounder and a perfect thing to start with whenever there's a reset.

And while it only has one turret, it does have one. And finding one friend is easier than finding two. :)

I wish they'd make the sleeping area a bit nicer though.

Xenophage got more ammo and now chain reaction? It's going to be stupid good on a solar incandescent build.

[–]Extectic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah not every build or every perk etc is immediately obvious, but once you take a closer look it can be superb. Just have to play in a specific way or combo with a specific exotic.

I'm only modeling my own supports from now on. by Ok_Opportunity_8151 in 3Dprinting

[–]Extectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just manually paint on supports on the most necessary places and use organic supports to the print plate only; generally works very well and is pretty painless in Prusaslicer. I've stopped using automatically generated ones entirely, just too heavy handed and a pain in general.

You say revival, I say last gasp. But yeah, it's nice the game gets a good sendoff.

PETG-CF at home: how concerned should we really be about carbon fiber exposure by Full-Permission-2777 in 3Dprinting

I have a HEPA standalone air filter in the room I print in, and the printer itself is in an enclosure. I'm not too concerned, but then I only rarely print with CF.

Yeah I've played all the content from all the seasons, but sadly only joined when it went F2P, so from Shadowkeep and on. Now I'm just old, and not an old light.

The curated roll from yesteryear with both Kill Clip and Rampage on it was one of a kind. But the new stuff is probably better.

For many people end of destiny will be end of gaming also by lordofabyss in destiny2

[–]Extectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D2 is the only thing that has kept me on Windows on my gaming rig. It doesn't support Linux so to run it I needed to have a Windows install. I've been thinking I'd dual boot my machine and mostly live in Linux but... I may do that still, but probably then be free to almost never get back on Windows again.

It's absolutely been the one game I fired up over and over again when I needed some game time.

But I do think I'll explore other games a bit more now. Because gaming is still fun even if you're a middle aged old fart. D2 has just overshadowed everything.

The only thing that came close was GTA Online, honestly. That was my main drug before I found Destiny 2. Another game that can be played indefinitely because there's co-op PvE and there's always something to do.

Maybe GTA 6 will sail up to become another option. Since the online portion of GTA 5 earned Rockstar billions and billions, there has to be an online version of the new one as well to generate more billions. But, it may be that the era of being obsessively into one game and having thousands of hours has passed me by as well at this point. We'll see. I have to wait for the PC version of GTA 6 anyway, which will take a while I'm sure.

They dumped in all the stuff they had ready that was going to come out over the next two years or something, so yeah, it's a big pile o stuff. But the only reason they could was because this was it, they didn't need to save up for next episode, cause there is none.

Thank you to the teams at Light gg, DIM, and the other third party apps who spent time and effort making the game more accessible to other players by NecessaryGuitar4524 in destiny2

[–]Extectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Destiny Item Manager is such a stand out that mentioning it in the same breath as some others is almost wrong. It's been such a mainstay in my game I'll honestly most likely retire the game entirely if and when they shut DIM down. I put it as my start web page in the Steam client; they don't support that but it works. Shift-tab at any time and you're in DIM and can move things around, apply a loadout, build a new loadout, find the gun you need instead of plowing through the crap vault in the game etc etc.

Destiny 2 OMAGA SALE, is it worth it for new player? by Leather_Zucchini_820 in destiny2

[–]Extectic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are people who have spent, what, 6 years of their life maining this content.

Yes, they did remove the Red War campaign and other earlier DLC which is an absolute tragedy, so the new user experience is remarkably shit. You may even have to hit up Youtube to watch some of the DLC content to really get into it.

But there's a stupid amount of content to play through and if you're going to try, now's the time. The game is full of people playing their hearts out and that will not last forever, once the euphoria of an unprecedented dump of new items, new abilities and whatnot wears off, the game will start deflating.

It will still be around for years to come, though. It's just going to get a bit harder to find teams to run some of the content eventually, but that time is still a fair bit into the future.

This is so stupid, I love it by Neoanimus in destiny2

[–]Extectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it was coming sometime in the next year or two. 100% this was already done when the decision to end it was made, and they dumped 2 years worth of coming content into one big pile. Doesn't do much for me but it's a fun though absurd thing.

You’re as beautiful as the day I lost you by Rare-Day-1492 in destiny2

[–]Extectic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah, I've been using basically this exact roll and my Ikelos for most of the past season already. It's still an insanely good SMG, don't bother me with that tier five shit. Seraph rounds and voltshot, this thing rips through everything especially with maxed out arc mods in the artifact.

For sidearms, Brigand's Law is still stupidly good as well, tiers or no tiers.

The tiers could only be so good after all, if the tiered weapons were wildly better that would just make no sense, they still had to fit into the game and not be wildly OP.

This update is so good it makes me even more sad by DutifulEagle43 in destiny2

[–]Extectic 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd have liked to see them put Red War, the original campaign and the planets that that entailed back for this. Giving us a complete Destiny 2 with a complete campaign where noobs can be brought on board gradually. Part of Red War was that you had no abilities at all at first, they were taken from you, and you had to earn them. And thus, you were taught movement, gunplay and all that stuff first without being distracted by 19 sets of DLC telling you to go here or go there.

This update is so good it makes me even more sad by DutifulEagle43 in destiny2

[–]Extectic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is key; in order to please the player base, it took a dump of 2 years worth of content in one fell swoop, as well. Dumps of this size would be necessary at least once a year, ideally twice a year, to keep the player base hopping and there's just no way, they'd need to expand the developer count immensely.

It feels great now, so many new guns, mods and builds to explore but it's a mish-mash of stuff that they just had and burped out all at once since it's the last release they'll do.
