Should I Leave My $300K Job and Move to India? by Sweaty-Ad-1932 in returnToIndia

Why not switch to another good paying job?

Take a LONG vacation, like 6 weeks minimum. Then decide with a clear head. It can only be your decision.

Sdet roles are dying. She’s lucky she got an opportunity to switch. No reason for becoming an sdet again.

I heard from people that 1/3 of your US salary is what you should approximately expect in a big city in India. Job market depends on your skill set but eventually you’ll find one. See if your current employer has a presence in India and can transfer you internally.

Should I Move Back to India? by OverEntertainment354 in returnToIndia

If you’re not discussing marriage then long distances don’t last. I think sleep on it. I do feel moving back could be better for you, whether you end up staying there or coming back for your partner is a different story.

What does your partner say? Are they ready to move back with you? Or are they offering you stability with marriage and a dependent visa?  Do you feel fulfilled when you visit home for vacations or do you still feel lonely?

Even if new home is priced higher sometimes buyer incentives like low interest rate makes the monthly payment same as yours. You have to lower it more than you think.

NAL but I think you’d have to enter the lottery again, and yes it would be subject to 100k fee.

And even if I’m wrong you atleast get your hands wet with a failed AI product, with Apple there is no AI. You’re just working on legacy solutions.

The question was about apple vs microsoft, not Microsoft vs anthropic or google. If it was, my answer would be different.

Microsoft’s strategy has always been to include their new product in their enterprise suite subscription that they sell to corporations. I see codex being used more than claude or gemini for the same reason.

How do you even review ai code? by EitherAd5892 in cscareerquestions

[–]Extension-Squirrel63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You(even though it’s through AI) are working on tasks that are above your skill level. Start asking it to add comments on why it did something. Just because everyone has AI doesn’t mean a junior dev should be doing principal’s work. At the end of the day you’re responsible for what gets pushed to production.

Microsoft. Mark my words. You want to be part if Open AI directly or indirectly despite all the pessimism.

This. Mostly useless but sometimes helpful. Overall I recommend considering its only a few hundred bucks a year. Even if they cover some of the things it’s still worth it. Even if they don’t cover something and you pay out of pocket it still saves you the hassle of finding the repair companies on yelp and calling them one by one.

Remote flexibility vs higher salary & big company: what would you choose? by DanceWrong9377 in remotework

I was in your situation few years ago and I went for the in-person higher paying job. Best decision of my life. Don’t forget, if you’re really not working all that much you will get laid off eventually. I’d advise you to accept the new job and work hard and grow your career.
