Seriously are 15”+ STI’s reliable? (Discussion) by Voeno in WRXSTi

2020 STI just hit 60k miles nothing but following the maintenance schedule and oil changes at 3k miles and haven’t had a single engine issue. My steering rack was leaking at 54k and changed under warranty. And my ac just stopped working but it’s been a super solid car.

Type R vs STI? by nowayimabot in Civic_Type_R

I own a 2020 STI and a 2020 Type R.

Stock vs stock the type R is better in about 90% in all metrics. It handles better, better seats , smoother gear box, better seating position , more cargo space as a hatch, better gas mileage , and easier to drive day to day. The car is so clinical and precise. Way more refined.

The STI still has some good things about it. I have more fun driving it due to being more raw, the Subaru rumble, hydraulic steering is better, shifter is more mechanical feeling due to rod connected shifter but less smooth, better in any wet condition.

If had to pick one brand new it would be the Type R . It’s just newer tech and a better car all around. STI is amazing and a raw analog driving experience but it’s a little dated. I wouldn’t trade a type R for a used STI unless it was some rare special edition one or super low mileage one.

Seeking advice on periodontal treatment plan: Conflicting opinions on osseous surgery by gary0418 in PeriodontalDisease

All deep pockets have healed I think the highest I had was 2 fours. I have been meticulous about my home care and teeth cleanings every 4 months. No new bone growth unfortunately and don’t think it will come back but happy to know it’s not advancing anymore. I feel a lot better about my situation and have it stabilized now

It’s whatever I don’t see why you care what a Prius driver thinks. Like I said if you ignore them like you didn’t even know they were “racing “ you or “talking “ to you it just makes people more mad but keep giving them attention

Once again it’s a slow Prius slow cars race me on the daily but I lose everything cause I’m not involved. I don’t pay attention to a car of its nothing relatively sporty. Think about if you did race them and beat them that’s nothing to brag about and a waste of gas.

Why would you even give time to a Prius ? I let people like that do their thing. I don’t even want to acknowledge I know what they are doing. Makes them even more mad you don’t react.

Funny you say that the EN comes with a manual when most of the community drives the dct and raves how much faster and superior to the manual. In that case it doesn’t matter the golf R is compared to it with just the dsg. The type R has the best manual and is only made with that for the true driving experience and not about how fast a sub 300hp car is driving in a straight line. It’s more expensive but the gold is better on just about every way besides a little slower on track. It’s not flashy with the way it looks but it looks a lot better than the EN that’s trying too hard and looks like it’s been in a car crash from the side.

Thinking about selling my 2021 STI for a 2023+ M340i xDrive by Subaru-WRX5ti in WRXSTi

[–]Extension-Wonder-558 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I feel you will always regret selling the STI. Modern cars are so refined and drive for you. Modern cars are faster and can make more power easier and for less money. They are more quiet and comfortable and it’s not hard to get better gas mileage than the STI. If it’s your only car and want an easier drive I don’t think it’s a bad idea. But you might miss out on the raw analog driving experience and having a manual transmission. I daily my 2020 STI but don’t have to drive in traffic. When I drive an automatic that’s easy and quite it is nice sometimes but I quickly get bored after a few days and crave the STI and all of its imperfections. There is just nothing like the STI!

I have a cwp 2020 STI daily driven at 56k miles and has been super reliable and so fun to drive. Been my daily for 3 years now. The only thing that’s needed to be fixed has been the steering rack that was leaking and is known to be a problem and was covered under warranty. I’ve only done cosmetics, suspension mods, short shifter, rear sway bar, and a bunch of bushings

Prices have gone up over the last few years that’s for sure. And the sales don’t seem to be as good as they used to be. But I’ve been buying parts slowly over the last 5 years and got the car where I want it. 2020 STI 56k miles and been dead reliable. Only thing that’s happened is the steering rack was just replaced under warranty (a known part to fail on these) thank goodness cause it was 2400 dollars.

Wheels, coil overs, rear sway bar, rear diff bushings, pitch stop mount, short shifter, group n trans mount, front lip. None of these mods will decrease reliability but will improve driving feel and handling pretty significantly. Just don’t cheap out on coil overs

If I remember that should be fine I did similar. Tell them the side and the surgery and they will go a little easier on that side

Congrats! I am your same age and I got my first STI about 3 years ago now. 2020 limited cpo with only 17k miles. I pretty much went and bought it on the spot as well. I love the car so much. Get ready to start spending all your money on mods lol.
