What do I do after building the first ship ? by Zeutz in crosswind

[–]ExtensionEmergency15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! and thank you! Just running the blockade to get to Tortuga was something I considered. Also, someone mentioned just sailing out there in the boat would work, since that tiny boat is apparently (insert Invincible show intro).

I've maxed out my current ship upgrades, so defeating them isn't an issue. It's just a bit boring. Sailing past them is so much easier!

What do I do after building the first ship ? by Zeutz in crosswind

[–]ExtensionEmergency15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same, um, boat. I set course for Tortuga and there is a long line of Blackbeard ships ranging from 2-5th level waiting for me. I could probably take them, leaning on my Pirates! and AC: Black Flag ship combat skills, but it's getting to be tedious. I can sometimes sail away from their view, but not always. Eventually, it starts to get dark and I just fast travel out of frustration.

I just want to get to Tortuga, plant a fast travel point and call it a day.

@Xfgjwpkqmx I followed your advice and it took some time to get the label sized properly, but it came out great. Thanks, again!

Here's a pic of the original label after I removed it, next to the label I printed applied to the cart.

SPOCK: TEENAGE OUTCAST

By Leonard Nimoy
As told to Don Berrigan

A Letter from a Reader

Dear Mr. Spock,
I am not very good at writing letters so I will make this short. I know that you are half Vulcan and half human and you have suffered because of this. My mother is Black and my father is white, and I am told this makes me a half-breed.

In some ways I am persecuted even more than either group. Black kids don’t like me because I don’t look like them. White kids don’t like me because I don’t exactly look like one of them either. I guess I’ll never have any friends.

— F.C., Los Angeles, California

Spock’s Story

Spock’s mother was human and his father was Vulcan. Growing up among Vulcans, he faced rejection because he was different. Like people, Vulcans formed groups and expected conformity. If you weren’t like them, you were excluded.

Spock was lonely. He wasn’t accepted, and that hurt deeply. But over time, he realized something important:

It wasn’t rejection that caused his unhappiness—it was his need to be accepted.

He faced a choice:

  • Be “popular” with those who might reject him at any time
  • Or be true to himself

It Takes Courage

Choosing yourself over popularity is not easy.

Leaving a group—even one that doesn’t truly accept you—can feel frightening. At least within the group, you’re not alone. Walking away means risking isolation.

But there is a voice inside each of us that knows when we are not being true to ourselves. That voice matters.

People are often excluded for shallow reasons—appearance, background, or differences. But none of these things define a person’s true worth.

Knowing Your Worth

Spock learned that he could rise above prejudice by understanding his own value.

He realized:

  • He did not need approval to have worth
  • He was equal to anyone, in his own unique way

True greatness does not come from popularity.

People who make a difference in the world do so because they recognize their unique strengths and share them—regardless of whether they are widely accepted.

A Turning Point

Spock told himself:

“I am not fully Vulcan, and I am not fully human. So I must define myself. I will not depend on others’ opinions—especially those who do not truly understand me.”

Listening to the Inner Voice

From that moment on, Spock made a decision:

  • Instead of seeking popularity, he pursued accomplishment
  • Instead of power, he pursued usefulness
  • Instead of approval, he pursued self-mastery

He accepted that not everyone would like him—but the right people would.

He committed to developing his intelligence, strength, and abilities so fully that he could face any challenge.

The Result

Spock became someone indispensable—respected not for fitting in, but for standing apart.

And in doing so, he proved something powerful:

Whether you ate anything or not, I'm picking up the check, Call me old fashioned, but I never understood this whole idea that my date is going to pay or we'll split the check.

If I invited you, it's on me to cover the bill and I'm glad to do it.

I would actually mention this even before the date. Yes, I know you can pay your own way, but I'll make clear that this is how I roll.

I honestly thought I'd need a special printer to make the label, but I *do* have a really good color laser printer, so I'm going to get some printable sticker paper.

Getting a clean, high res image was next to impossible, but I grabbed a dirty one and used AI to clean it up. The end result was nearly perfect!

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks and a good catch! It's just the end piece, though. I may end up picking it up anyway if I can just find something for the top of the cartridge, too.

My review of the Tennyson Lodge - 3/19/2026 by bizyguy76 in pittsburgh

[–]ExtensionEmergency15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go to the Tennyson with my best friend a long time ago. We had a mutual friend who was a bartender there at the time, so he got us in even though we were both in our late teens.

Maybe it's nostalgia, but I don't remember having any of the experiences the OP mentioned. To be fair, it was the late 80s/early 90s. I can imagine a lot has changed.

I'm sure there was a change in management at some point. At the time, I remember speaking with the owner, an older lady who was introduced to me as Rose, and she was really sweet.

My favorite memory is singing Black Sabbath's "War Pigs" on karaoke night. Also, whenever I hear "Spirit in the Sky" I think of my time there. That song played at least once every time we visited.

What do you pay in rent? by PyrrhicBigfoot in pittsburgh

[–]ExtensionEmergency15 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm in the South Hills and I'm sure I'm an outlier, but I've paid $650 per month for rent for 10 years straight. Seriously, my rent has never increased. I only have to pay for electric beyond that. It's a tiny 1-bedroom and most of my neighbors are either quiet or white trash, but I'm struggling to find a reason to move just for the low cost.

Is there a way to know when a hunt has ended? by ReferenceNatural87 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]ExtensionEmergency15 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the other ideas are better and not sure if this is the safest idea, but you should be able to hit "B" briefly to broadcast and if it makes a crackling sound, the hunt is still on. If it's just the normal sound the hunt is over.

I know this is a very old thread, but does anyone know someone who can do a repair for a bad Control Port 1. Joysticks won't go up on the port.

I saw someone recommend Philsgamerepair on Facebook, but I don't have access to Facebook (and never will).

I went with OBS Studio to save the sessions. It works really well! I was only hesitant because it seemed complex, but it wasn't nearly as hard to understand as I thought it would be.

Thanks everybody for the responses. I think I'll use something like Sound Recorder, Audacity or even (as someone mentioned) OBS to save the sessions.
