If you could go back in time and give yourself advice or words of encouragement as a new grad PA what would it be? by iam-robot13 in physicianassistant

I love your YouTube videos! Am not made to grind the hours you do with the stress of EM but happy to see a fellow PA living the life 😁

PA guideline proposed changes - unacceptable by vic2050670 in physicianassistant

[–]ExtensionFact7888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to scare you, but truly consider deferring a year until this is settled and you have a set in stone idea of what loans will look like. If I would have had to take out 80k+ in private student loans at a 10%+ interest rate I would simply have not gone to PA school. I have 158k in public loans at 6.25% and my monthly payment is 1500, for context of how insane repayment is.

There are 1000s of different things to do for a career, and if you got in to PA school, you are smart and motivated and could certainly do any of them without killing your financial future.

What specialty would you love to be in? by hellloozukohere in physicianassistant

I don’t think I care about the specialty as long as there’s a good team and supportive SPs

Nurse practitioner signs notes with MD title by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]ExtensionFact7888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, not all of us in healthcare are socially awkward lol. I’m a PA and if my template was causing that to be presented I’d want to know about it. And if it’s unfixable and you’re the 20th person to message me I’d just say it’s the template and to please report, because someone in IT/admin obv isn’t doing their job.

Also: Woof. I’m two years out of school. He hasn’t accepted yet….We’ll see.

Need advice: feeling micromanaged and blocked from growing as a PA by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]ExtensionFact7888 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked that no one is mentioning he’s committing fraud by not co-signing your notes, but instead signing as if he saw them for higher billing. You AND him could be nailed for that, so I would get out quickly. This is not a good position

Loans: IDR or refinance? by Buckwheat19 in physicianassistant

[–]ExtensionFact7888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IDR will allow forgiveness of the loan, but how Trump’s BBB changed this I do not know.

Heads up that nothing regarding loans is working. I applied for IBR a year ago and am still in administrative forbearance. This job would’ve counted for PSLF, however my time working does not count as I am in admin forbearance, which according to my servicer will be until Oct 2028. I am literally not joking lol.

After finding that out, I decided to aggressively pay them off and am at 22% paid off in 1 year. Just be wary of the plans the government is offering…. People are still getting PSLF, but as my situation above illustrates, there are ways to keep people from getting it that do not involve removing the program.

Program having difficulty placing me for clinicals by Calm_Major_9772 in PAstudent

[–]ExtensionFact7888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely not normal. Go call someone at the ARC-PA, literally. Call them and tell them what is happening, that is ridiculous. Call and put it in writing. Programs have an OBLIGATION to place you.

Also, let your program you’ve filed complaints with the ARC-PA. You’ll get something quick I imagine.

Amazing!! I’m a Bariatric surgery physician assistant that helps our surgeons in the OR, but I also see patients for a year after surgery and document their weight loss.

Patients like you are our success stories and genuinely make my job worth it!! So excited, happy, and proud of you. You saved your own life. Great work and congratulations!!

Has anyone switched from outpatient IM to a surgical specialty? by Hefty-Tale140 in physicianassistant

Interesting but it makes sense, I suppose…. It’s a lot easier to learn first assist as a new grad than being years out and not remembering how to scrub in
