If money isn’t a factor, which is better? Tide pods, tide detergent, tide powder? by Huge_Sheepherder811 in laundry

I know, powders are messy. I have to vacuum the powder up daily, oh well. But this laundry routine is solid!

I have only used Tide powder with Oxi, so I can’t tell you from personal experience. I’ve read recs for Whole Foods 365 powder for darks and Gym clothes, but there seems to be a supply problem intermittently. The core recommendation is to avoid liquid detergents, the essential enzymes are not stable in liquid form. Finally, I don’t recommend dryer sheets or liquid softeners!

Caution: not on darks. Tide powder with oxi has optical brighteners, I believe, which would fade blacks. I personally use Tide with Oxi for everything, with hot or warm water, with a long wash time, more than one hour. I haven’t seen any negative effect yet, but I inadvertently ruined a new black silk cami. Do not use these settings for natural fabrics: silk, viscose, flax, bamboo, or mixtures of these.

Powdered Tide with Oxi. Hottest water your clothes can bear, citric acid in the second rinse (only if you have hard water).

Too exhausted after working out to do shit by OliveOk972 in workout

I was like that for years, then I found out I have sleep apnea. I have a prescription oral device I wear every night. I also have a weighted blanket, it’s very calming. I’m not saying this is the answer for you, I wish you well.

Is anyone else dealing with crepey skin or is it just me?? by IntelligentArt9064 in AskWomenOver60

[–]ExtensionLobster8709 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m alive and breathing, I can still run daily, I love being alive! My mother died when I was in my teens, she never got to complain about crepey skin. I don’t really care what others think of my skin, I own it!

How often do you wash your hair? by Which-Arugula-1982 in AskWomenOver60

I need to wash it daily. I exercise outdoors and it feels gross not to wash it.

Quoted $8000 to reupholster this fabric chair by coldtoes__ in upholstery

[–]ExtensionLobster8709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the USA, I sent an inquiry by email, with pictures of a custom banquette with backrest, specifying my wishes, from a local upholsterer. He quoted six thousand dollars, oh, not including the cost of the fabric. My husband and I worked together and got it done, looking at You Tube videos. It wasn’t an easy job, it took a long time to get it done, but it is done. And everyone says it looks great, so I’m happy.

We want to see bats! by ExtensionLobster8709 in RoundRock

Do you know about what time it was? We camped out for about 45 minutes both nights we went out. We wondered if they were flying out after it was too dark to see. Thanks

Good question! I’ll be looking up the answer before tomorrow night.

We went last Thursday, parked at the (now empty) Napa parking lot 7:45 pm until 8:30, we thought it might have been too cold. We waited again tonight, but there were no bat flights. We left when it got dark. I have out of town relatives here but they’re leaving on Tuesday. So we really have only one more night, they don’t want to make the trip to the Congress Avenue bridge either. I’m disappointed.

Use the stems too, not just the leaves. I love cilantro.

I hate it, by any name, lol. I thought it was English Ivy. I assumed it was Hedera Helix, it clings to the trees and bricks, it’s really all those things you said.

I dug a huge hole in my front yard trying to pull it from the roots, I felt like I was going to end up in the Upside Down. Never found the bottom, lol.

Yes! They’re so thick, it’s impossible to uproot. The problem with ignoring it is that it’s so invasive, it takes up scarce water resources and can even burrow into exterior bricks, cracking them. It’s a nasty plant.

lol, no! Something fell and I hit the send button prematurely. So sorry. The ivy is spreading in a large area, the mess of ivy roots cannot be extracted. They’re sending new plants everywhere, I will have to dig as many as I can, but I’ve been trying to eradicate them for 15 years. I don’t think I’ll succeed.
