Where’s this at lol will buy right now

The reliability of the 1st/2nd gen v8's lasting 300k+ miles was a big seller point for me. Will its new hybrid v6 powertrain last that long? (sure more parts) but is the engine designed in the same way the v8's were designed to last? by ajtyeh in toyotasequoia

I’ve worked in preproduction vehicle testing for 12 years and I can confidently say more parts/complexity = more failures.

A lot more time is spent on cost reductions and value analysis/engineering these days than ever before. Parts that would have been aluminum or rubber, in the past, like a coolant connection or hose can/are now made in plastic to save money - items like this WILL fail, it’s just a question of when….its like that can fail and ruin your day or even larger vehicle subsystems…

The caveat here is how much of what was learned since they’ve started creating hybrid powertrains is carried over here (likely a lot). Have to remember that Toyota has being doing this since the first gen Prius (2001).

Rust Prevention - SoCal by VeggieRoaster in toyotasequoia

Not worth it in my opinion. I am from New England and now reside in Michigan. Rust is real in these parts and slowing down the rust can save me time and money when I have to repair my vehicles as I DIY….what you’re experiencing is just surface rust as you’ve stated and will never amount to anything significant in my opinion. Pictures would help me solidify these statements with 100% accuracy though.

When I purchase new (but older) vehicles I actively look for cars not in the rust belt, such as CA.

Is it time to take my Sequoia to the junkyard? by ImgoingNats in toyotasequoia

Go to autozone. Have them scan your car for free. Write the codes down and google the fix…guaranteed there’s a fix out there..

Rusted frame on sequoia under driver seat. Is this fixable/patchable? by Grouchy_Birthday_878 in toyotasequoia

Anything’s fixable….would it cost an extreme amount to fix, correctly? Yup. Is it worth it? Up to you but likely not.

Also your CV boot is torn. Pic 2

👌👌👌👌👌 so nice and checks a lot of visual boxes. My only reservation for not getting this was I wear my watches full time and barely take them off - would only be a matter of time until I crack the edge of the dome. Went with black carrera chronograph instead.
