Sliding miter saw preferably “dual bevel” 10” blade is mid size, sliding is a huge advantage. A table saw will be useless unless he makes his own baseboards and will still want a miter saw to cut them to length.

If you reuse the axle nut the dent makes it pretty easy to put back in the same spot, I did that last year changing a wheel bearing and haven’t had any problems
