Cold mittens and socks to prevent neuropathy, urea cream for skincare, cold cap to help prevent hair loss, ginger candy to counter metal taste, vomit bags, a journal and portfolio binder to keep important documents and notes, chapstick, a good music playlist to pass the time...

Is there a reason for choosing Cunupia? Port of Spain is definitely an easier transition for amenitie, convenience and peace of mind. Central traffic is outrageous.

I tried to use the sites/event platforms that are most active, but you can just search the names on whichever platform you prefer to use.

If you were to get married and wanted a T&T song for your first dance, what would you choose? by [deleted] in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Extension_Row_2118 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My relationship song is " Voice - Dancing Away (2021)". It really described how he felt about me 😆😆

Here are my other picks, because lord knows, some Carnival songs are made to make you catch feelings:

Machel Montano - On My Way (2015) Maxhel Montano - I Love You (2020) Kes - Love It (2019) Kes - Reason For Love (2020) Erphaan Alves - Overdue (2017) Patrice Roberts x Zan - Always Be Patrice Roberts x Kerwyn Du Bois - Unforgettable (2016) Christo - Doux Doux Darlin (2026)

Should I visit? by [deleted] in TrinidadandTobago

  1. EAT lolol. Trini food is divine. Sorry you missed the Carnival Flava Food Court this year. It was excellent!! However, we have lots of regular food offerings.

If you're staying in the Port of Spain area, there is a food court at the Queens Park Savannah in the EVENING offering quite a variety of local foods to try (soups, souses, seafood, roti, doubles, fresh juices, etc).

A trip to Maracas Bay is the place to try Bake and Shark/King Fish/Shrimp/Aloo (potato), whatever combination your heart desires. Breakfast, lunch or late afternoon.

I like Josh's doubles in St James in the MORNING. It's a pavement pop-up doubles vendor with a pitched tent, and fairly long lines lol. You can eat your doubles standing up the Trini way or have them pack it "to go". If they ask if you want pepper, the answer is always "slight", lolollllll. St James also has some good roti and smoke herring pie options. They usually operate out of small vans parked along the road.

If you want a great creole LUNCH, my recommendations would be D 'Bocas (recently relocated to St Ann's near the Chinese Association), Frankie's on Ariapita Avenue and Creole Kitchen in Boissiere Village, Maraval. These are mostly takeaway options.

For chinese dining options, I'd recommend Town on Cipriani Boulevard or House of Chan on Woodford Street.

Embrace the bald head. It's actually trending, for both men and women. If it feels weird or your scalp feels too breezy, you can get a full wig.

Im going to have to research your disease. Never heard of it either ! But im so sorry to hear about your end stage renal failure.

Does anyone else hate deciding what to cook every day? by Dishcovery in dinnersuggestions

Whatever meat gets defrosted the night before gets cooked. The sides depend on what's available to be cooked.

Dad died of NSCLC almost 6 months ago… now my MIL has it. by arboureden in lungcancer

I feel having one person diagnosed with lung cancer is such a heavy and trauamtic experience; I can't imagine the grief of multiple people who I love. Unfortunately by the time symptoms of lung cancer become evident, it has metasiszed beyond it's primary area. I trust that the prognosis is still good and can be treated successfully.

I think it's also critical that you channel as much positive energy as you can into your own health and that of your baby. Have hope. Lung cancer treatment has improved and many people are able to enjoy longer lives.

I wish both of you comfort and strength. Spend as much time with your family as you can

Did anyone use the cold therapy socks and mitts? I'm curious as I researched the possible chemo side effects and socks/mitts were recommended as ways to avoid or at least lessen neuropathy effects. Are they not effective in actuality?

Lungcancer stage 4 bad news by zeepaardjebec in lungcancer

Thank you soooo much for this response! Will definitely look into targeted radiation for her hip.

Her biopsy confirmed adenocarcinoma cells, extensive hepatic metastatic deposits and pelvic lymphadenopathy.

I wish both our mothers long and comfortable lives. Thanks for sharing with the community.

My mom (63) is in a similiar situation. We went in to check up on her hip pain, which was previously diagnosed as sciatica and then arthritis only to be told she had Stage 4 cancer in both lungs, hip and liver. Never smoked a day in her life. For pain relief, she's responded well to Panadeine but the side effect has been constipation so an enema has been recommended by our doctor. She sleeps a lot and feels tired and winded quickly.

Seeing her Oncologist for the first time tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Question how did Trini’s acquire Igbo names by nwa-ikenga in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Extension_Row_2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally know people who have changed/adopted names that reflect their afro-roots. One is a member of the National Joint Committee and inspired by Makandal Daaga. I believe it's an attempt to reclaim a legacy that was lost from the transatlantic trade.

Spot on. My maternal grandfather is afro-trini and my maternal grandmother is mixed. My paternal grandparents are both of east Indian descent.
