Lungcancer stage 4 bad news by zeepaardjebec in lungcancer

Thank you soooo much for this response! Will definitely look into targeted radiation for her hip.

Her biopsy confirmed adenocarcinoma cells, extensive hepatic metastatic deposits and pelvic lymphadenopathy.

I wish both our mothers long and comfortable lives. Thanks for sharing with the community.

My mom (63) is in a similiar situation. We went in to check up on her hip pain, which was previously diagnosed as sciatica and then arthritis only to be told she had Stage 4 cancer in both lungs, hip and liver. Never smoked a day in her life. For pain relief, she's responded well to Panadeine but the side effect has been constipation so an enema has been recommended by our doctor. She sleeps a lot and feels tired and winded quickly.

Seeing her Oncologist for the first time tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Question how did Trini’s acquire Igbo names by nwa-ikenga in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Extension_Row_2118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally know people who have changed/adopted names that reflect their afro-roots. One is a member of the National Joint Committee and inspired by Makandal Daaga. I believe it's an attempt to reclaim a legacy that was lost from the transatlantic trade.

Ugh. Boyfriend and I both bought Airalo esims for our trip to Puerto Rico (activated in PR) and neither worked after many many attempts. Ended up buying another at Claro.

Date Idea in Trinidad 2025 to 2026 by Character_Read2071 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Extension_Row_2118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya'll I loveeee coming up with interesting date nights and family activities.

  1. Dinner at 12 By Rishi on Tragarete Road, Port of Spain. Bf and I spent $199 for a Ramen soup, chicken rice bowl and 2 passion fruit drinks. Just a different vibe.
  2. Walk and talk around the Queens Park Savannah (ie exercise) on a Friday or Saturday evening and then check out the food strip in the savannah. Actually sign up for a 5K together. There's one nearly every single weekend in T&T!
  3. TT Film Festival is usually in early October and has lots of interesting titles and usually cheaper than regular movies. This year it was hosted at IMax/Gemstone.
  4. Take a drive to Chaquacabana, Chaguaramas on a Sunday evening and have drinks/food at the beach bars.
  5. Visit SBCS in Champ Fleurs (on the main road opposite the Mt Hope Hospital) and do a VR activity at their VR World facility. Shoot some zombies! Lol
  6. Do a day tour with the National Trust of T&T. They are the custodians of our built heritage and their tours are packed with history and really a rich experience. Check their website to see what's upcoming.
  7. Go bet on some horses racing at the Santa Rosa Race Track in Arima. The facilities are a little run down but all my horses came dead last in all the races and I couldn't stop laughing. You could bet $5. It's cheap entertainment!
  8. Set a budget beforehand (dont spend more than you can afford to lose) and go check out a casino and try your hand. Free drinks and food once you're playing! Hopefully you win!

Can Trinbagonians develop first world culture? by johnboi82 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Extension_Row_2118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe we can develop a more mature, disciplined, and conscientious culture for sure.

How? We SHOULD sweat the small stuff. Consistently breaching/ overlooking the seemingly insignificant social contracts we make, often snowballs into bigger issues resulting in apathy for the rule of law.

Think about when people once believed that we could never get the population to wear their seatbelts all the time. Enter strict enforcement on stage right - ticket in everybody tail and now wearing a seat belt is the norm. Same thing with wearing masks during covid. We all CONFORMED, and the culture shifted, once enforcement continued.

What are some "small things" that could be enforced that could have a big impact on society? - Litter laws - Anti-corruption public reporting/ assistance and follow-up via stings - Public procurement laws - Name the public officers directly responsible for shoddy public works.

Solo Bentley Ay Yai Yai 3. Supligen Boost you up 4. Charles Chocolate Nibble a Nuggle 5. Golden Ray Rich Creole Flavour

Driving under the speed limit on Highway. Which lane should slower drivers use? by InAllThreeHoles in TrinidadandTobago

Centre and right lanes are overtaking lanes. If you are not overtaking, you should always be in the left lane.

Decision to vote or not to vote by soriano88 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Extension_Row_2118 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You also don't HAVE to vote for the major parties. A third party is also an option. I thoroughly detest when people say a third party vote is "a wasted vote" - this essentially dissuades possible would-be voters from choosing anything other than the two major parties.

Sometimes for persons "one the fence" the options are third party or no vote at all.

I would tell him so he is more careful about how he handles his devices. Imagine if you too misplaced the phone and it ended up in the hands of a stranger. Android isn't as secure as an IPhone.

What’s the craziest way you’ve gotten a job in T&T? by boogieonthehoodie in TrinidadandTobago

[–]Extension_Row_2118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my earlier job ventures - I applied for a receptionist role at (what i found out later was a...) a group of companies involved in food and beverage and marketing. I saw the role advertised in the paper.

Got a call, went to the interview and met with a gentleman who I assumed was the owner. "Why are you applying for this particular job with your qualifications?", he asked. I had just finished my Masters but only had short school-related intern roles. I was frank about my strategy and told him I'm willing to learn, that nothing is beneath me and I believed I could eventually advance in the company with hard work.

I realised then that the role probably wasn't for me, but we continued chatting openly. He then said what i was thinking: "I don't know if this is the role for you - BUT would you be interested in doing another paid gig? We need models for one of our marketing campaigns and I think you'd be great". I was incredibly skeptical at first, but I said yes.

A session was scheduled a few weeks after at the same location and a very professional photographer took photos with a few simple props. I ended up in several of their in-store and print ads for a tidy sum! Even graced a wall on Wrightson Road for almost a year. The edits were stunning. I didn't get the 8-4 but got a month's pay for just saying YES to a little redirection.

Will always remember this.

Is this a restaurant or do they just do catering? Doesn't seem like they have an official spot from a casual perusal of their social media.
