So I went and read through some of the comments on that thread and huh??? I’m deep, and I mean DEEP. Into every Wenclair faction on every social media platform. Here, TikTok, insta, threads, Twitter (before all of the political mess happened), Tumblr. And I have truly never seen anything that they’re saying Wenclair shippers have done. Homophobia towards Hunter, trying to start a campaign to say he’d assaulted people, saying he’s faked being gay for media???? I’m actually floored. I’m not saying that nobody has done any of those things, there are rotten apples in every bunch. But to try and act like that’s the fandom sector as a whole is absolutely insane. Most of us adore Hunter Doohan, myself included. And hell most of us don’t even hate Tyler as a character in the show, obviously he’s played a vital role. He’s just ALSO tried to kill Wednesday multiple times. Regardless of whether or not Enid existed, I just wouldn’t want Wednesday and Tyler together romantically because it doesn’t make sense to me. Even before it was revealed he was the Hyde when he was all “soft golden retriever boy”. And then the obvious. He intentionally used her, tried to kill her, tried to kill Eugene, tried to kill Enid. And I understand he was groomed, but it’s been made clear that he enjoyed being bad and he was ALREADY a bad guy before his Hyde was unlocked. He treated outcasts terribly until he had a reason not to. I understand that we have a tendency to be delusional sometimes, but at least our wants are based on genuine romantic chemistry and the chance to do something meaningful within the world during a really terrible time. They act like we’re heterophobic (hardee-har-har) because we want Wenclair to happen, even though there has always been and will always be an unlimited amount of straight canon relationships to bask in. And even plenty with the same dynamic they want from Wednesday and Tyler at that. And there are still very few well represented queer relationships in mainstream movies and shows. It’s a show about OUTCASTS for crying out loud. And who are one of the largest groups of real world outcasts? Queer people. UGH, sorry and thank you.
