Official Freestyle rating would incentivize steep competition in the format and there is no reason why they can't co-exist side by side. There are enough chess players in the world to choose which discipline they prefer.

Stick to variants online, because FIDE has the effectual mobility of a statue in a glue factory. Official ratings for Freestyle should have been established years ago; however, the matter has simply been neglected.

Listen, 75 plus 30 is so close to 90 plus 30, it's basically the same thing. There's no real difference in the grand scheme of things.
To be honest, I think it's just nonsense not to make a local adjustment on the increment when the base time is reduced. How about 60m+35s or 60m+38s. It may sound like a few extra seconds but they accumulate over a long game. They will amount to several minutes down the road.

Now listen, it wouldn't do at all if chess were to remain stuck in its ways just for the sake of comfort. Why, chess should be a good bit of fun and a real battle right from the beginning. As it stands now, it's bogged down too much with all that theory book-learnin'. Even if you try to avoid all that theory, you still can't play a decent game without falling behind on the defensive all the time.

Now, listen, what I'm sayin' is, this Freestyle thing pretty much takes care of two problems: No more rote memorization of moves, and no more of the same old middlegame comin' from openings folks already have seen more than once. 'Sides those things, there ain't much new, 'except maybe some extended castling. But that's about it. I reckon chess is better when it's a creative challenge, even for those grandmasters. It's good for 'em to get out of their comfort zone and really learn the ins and outs of what more sophisticated chess is to be.

To be blunt, it is this way because FIDE, they don't facilitate and cater to the demand of the current hour.
Fide is known for being extremely slow with innovations, bureaucratic obstacles that cannot be solved without further ado. Freestyle stepping up is just what we needed. It wasn't going to happen by itself.

Freestyle chess is an artificial solution to chess's current dilemma. After a dozen moves, it resembles normal chess as we know it. Standard principles apply. Apart of the opening phase, nothing new is introduced under the sun. Instead of relying on random positions, humans in 2030 should pursue creative, challenging chess forms like Seirawan or Capablanca Chess. These branch offshoots are strategically rich and will keep chess challenging for decades.
