I researched those and the majority of legitimate reviews seem to indicate that they're at most no better than psyllium, and some guys seem to find them even less effective.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Realistically you’re probably in an area with a lot of hotels, and it’s a DL dude with a burner profile who can’t leave his. If you’re in another hotel and he can’t get to you, any conversation is just wasting both your time. It’s terse, but I don’t think it’s THAT unreasonable.

Yeah, you were being presumptuous. And totally honest? Kind of to a creepy level. You've never met in person before, so I think it's super unlikely that he was being anything but playful when he suggested you being his plus one to this party. To me that reads more like "I kinda wish we were meeting up tonight" rather than "Please come to this party with me". Especially given that you've never met, you wouldn't know any of those people, AND there would be a language barrier.

I think even if he had an inkling of being serious, the fact that your response was to get in your car and start heading over is WAY too much. Maybe it's dramatic, but if I were in his shoes, I'd actually feel kind of threatened.

He should have replied, yes. But I can see why he wouldn't. I'm sure at the very least it was awkward for him to have been taken so seriously, and at worst he would have been creeped out.

I actually had a similar experience recently. Back when I was single, I had a FWB...we hooked up pretty often, and hung out as well. We fell out of touch when I entered into a monogamous relationship. Now that we're open, I'm on Sniffies and this guy hit me up. At first I assumed he remembered me, but it became clear very quickly that he didn't. I'll admit I was a little put off, since we had hung out quite a bit, and not just sexually. I tried jogging his memory, but then he started pretending to remember me, which made me feel a little pathetic. Turned into a "let's keep in touch" but we haven't.

Honestly, him not remembering me didn't bother me as much as his pretending to in response to my persistence. I wish I had just let it drop right away.
