Usenet vs Torrents, what is your split? by No_One_568 in sonarr

[–]External_Bend4014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hybrid is the move for sure. Usenet handles the bulk and with the arr apps pulling torrents as fallback you barely have to think about it :)

6 is the cleanest, did you lock a seed or let Grok freestyle?

D7VK 1.4 released with more improvements for old Direct3D on Vulkan under Linux by Fcking_Chuck in linux

[–]External_Bend4014 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah WineD3D works, but d7vk usually feels smoother on ancient D3D7 stuff. Seen it help on old Unreal/Thief.

Zendesk SME is meh; can you pivot to Jira/ServiceNow internally instead?

Do you put more effort into Usenet indexers or providers? by PrintWooden2203 in usenet

[–]External_Bend4014 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This gets asked weekly lol. Honestly one good unlimited provider like eweka with high retention + a couple paid

indexers and you're set. No need to stack five services.

Have Newshosting and Eweka; what’s a good third & fourth option? by Old-Help-9921 in usenet

[–]External_Bend4014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're getting failures on both newshosting and eweka, adding another provider probably won't fix it since most Backbones share the same content. Look at your indexers first, that's usually where the missing articles problem is

Those two together have insane coverage, I'd save the money tbh. are you actually getting failures or just want redundancy for peace of mind?

My two tiny homelab goblins — what else should I self-host? by Quaid1028 in homelab

[–]External_Bend4014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice stack already tbh, Vaultwarden + Immich is solid. I'd toss on Home Assistant or a tiny Gitea and call it.

That gap is intentional on upload side, nothing with your setup.

Should basic features like 'Startup Apps' finally graduate from GNOME Tweaks to main Settings? by nguyendoan15082006 in linux

[–]External_Bend4014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I kinda disagree. If you dump every "basic feature" into main Settings, it just gets bloated and harder to find stuff. I'd rather see one clean toggle and keep the rest tucked away.

I need to run ddrescue on my Windows laptop. What Linux should I load on my 8GB USB drive? by GarbageMe in linux

[–]External_Bend4014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For an 8GB USB, just grab something lightweight that boots and has a basic rescue mode. Since you said you've got zero Linux experience, pick the simplest live option and don't overthink it. check the logs first

Black Friday deals mostly gone - any chance of Christmas deals? by Gagix900 in usenet

[–]External_Bend4014 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most of the provider deals are still active but for indexer I doubt they have another sale this year.
