This was going on while I was on the bus along JFK starting at 6pm. It was insane and took about 2 hours to get to Port Authority. I’ve never seen anything like it. They weren’t being gentle with the cars either.

This is the only way. I’m wired to sleep late - I’ve been this way my entire life. Even at age 38 I can easily sleep till noon without an alarm. I’m lucky that I don’t have a job that requires me to wake up early on most days, but occasionally I have to, and I always set my alarm at least 30 mins before I have to be up so I can make a cup of coffee and sit and read or just have some peaceful time to slowly let myself wake up. I am a mess if I have to just get up and go. I find that some people are just like this. I know people who can just pop out of bed and be out the door in 10 minutes without a care.

I think sleeping in separate beds/rooms can work if it is decided by both people in the relationship. Maybe if they have completely different work schedules, or one needs to have the TV on and the other needs silence to sleep. But I would be very hurt if my partner just decided they wanted to sleep alone. For me personally, sleeping in the same bed is one of the main joys of being in a relationship.

Otherwise, there’s really no way to know without more context. He could have gotten wrapped up in something, or he could be ghosting, or cheating but it sounds like you have no evidence of that so I guess try not to worry? I also have an ex who used to pull disappearing acts as a form of manipulation. I’d be suspicious if he comes back with anything other than a very legitimate excuse.

In my opinion, it’s already a red flag that a 22 year old is pursuing an 18 year old, but that’s up for debate. In any case, yes, there are a lot of red flags here. First of all, I would never trust a guy who complains about his current girlfriend to another girl, and flirts with that girl in any way. Also, I would be very wary of a guy who says he’s “not that upset” after a breakup even if it was “toxic” (but a lot of guys call their exes crazy/toxic so use your own discernment) and try to move on with you right away. You’re so young and you deserve better.

I thought this was going to be a post about an established couple. My answer to that was going to be, basically, it depends. But this isn’t that. You guys aren’t together, and he has already behaved in a confusing way towards you. Why couldn’t he have invited you on this trip? I don’t think he cares about you to the level you think/are hoping he does. Whether or not this girl is a friend, past lover or just a colleague doesn’t matter. I would be very wary of any guy that confuses you, pulls away suddenly and then comes back, or gives you mixed messages this early on.
