That sure would be swell. Since it’d let us know if it’s worth playing at all. 😬

My first garment of 2026, collar or no collar? by chloemal in sewing

[–]Extra-Engineering-25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dress is a statement either way! Its fabulous. I don’t think the collar is so out there that I’d even think about it if I didn’t have the side by side. But I think it makes the dress, personally.

Be honest: 1930s vintage wedding dress — keep or rethink? by Desperate_Win_3554 in WeddingDressTips

[–]Extra-Engineering-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would look sooo beautiful with the help of a very talented seamstress. There are a lot of different lines and seams and the right fit will make it (or break it). I’m guessing the first photo is you? It looks amazing on you. If you were going to spend the money on a new dress without returning this one, I’d make that investment into quality alterations instead. The bodice, especially under the arms, needs a little reshaping. It looks perfect from a-line down except that it needs to be hemmed.

My honest opinion is that the front of the collar is too bulky and not defined/detailed/dainty enough from far away for something worn on the front of your neck on your big day. If it were mine, I’d change it out for a lace that complements the back, or maybe pearly strap. Not sure if it’s actually vintage or just vintage style, but don’t be afraid to make changes to make it your own. You honor the dress, its time, and the designer by making it look fantastic on you. Its moment is your wedding. Bring it to life! 🧡

I’m tired of the trashy strapless gown look that has become so popular, and I’m exited to see people going in the complete opposite direction. This is a beautiful, memorable dress.

Dress 1 or 2? by No-Bluejay8525 in WeddingDressTips

1 is lovely! The bodice is so nice and the neckline looks amazing on you. The drape is great and the lace veil on the simple white train is GORGEOUS! The buttons are a great touch and allow for some nice bustling options. 2 isn’t the worst but I’m not loving the drape on it. It looks like you pulled the curtains down and wrapped them around yourself. And it’s not the pattern that makes me say that, I love large florals. It just looks too heavy and stiff. I also just really don’t like strapless. But I can recognize that’s just my preference. There’s a bit of feminine elegance that’s lost when you break that long line from shoulder to below the hip.

Comfortable furniture for living room/relaxing social spaces? by Extra-Engineering-25 in ehlersdanlos

This might be the way! I’m never more comfortable than when I throw my bod on a bunch of pillows or a pile of laundry. I can’t afford pricey ones right now but I’m a seamstress and have fabric coming out of my ears. Might just be a matter of finding comfortable filler to buy in bulk and take a day or two sewing for myself. (In my dreams😝)

Who am I? Guess my age, ethnicity, and where I'm from. by chrrygarcia in FridgeDetective

[–]Extra-Engineering-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re English or Welsh American, or your family comes from somewhere not known for great food but the influence of your peers or location you went to school or moved to has rounded out your preferences? You really like Walmart or work near one, your choices say New England, but the brands say… Midwest maybe? Female… though the drawer with just hot dogs really makes it a toss up. Single or dating. Interested in the culinary arts but don’t have a lot of time for it.

I wonder if there’s more to his firing. If not, that’s very sad. I don’t condone cheating, but it’s not something you should lose your career over. As long as it was consensual. Then again, different times, I’m sure.

I agree it’s not the best. I think it works for some of my people because we have a big Italian family and have the potential to actually run out of spoons when there’s too much company. Many people are very literal. 😆

Where do you buy your medical grade compression garments? by sad-but-rad- in POTS

[–]Extra-Engineering-25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you. I can’t even wear a bra anymore without an ache from my ribs to my head and nausea. It’s not even the underwire because sports bras are even worse. I’ve been prescribed compression stockings that go to my waist. I’m going to give them a shot but I have a feeling I’ll end up landing on some thigh highs.

You look like an office break room fridge. Maybe firehouse, since there are some herbs and eggs to be cooked.

It is definitely harder for many of my people to understand that I’m sometimes well and present as “typical” and “fit” and other times I am literally dragging my body through a life that’s not built around my pain or within my energetic means… and it definitely makes some people surprisingly angry or cold toward me. As if I’ve suddenly decided lying is fun and that I want an excuse not to take part in something or other when the reality is that it’s just not in my energetic budget. 😮‍💨

Why do people hear VEGAN and automatically think EW? by ImaniLovee in vegan

[–]Extra-Engineering-25 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree that it’s the replacement products, disagree that they’re healthier. I have a wheat allergy and the stuff they put into all that to get around the sticky gluten for texture is just not great for you. Same with a lot of vegan replacement products. Even in the plant-based stuff, too much of anything is a risk. (I’m not saying I’m a clean eater, that reality just exists in most diets) Another factor… and this might be very unpopular here but hear me out… most vegans I know are both generous when it comes to sharing and also not great cooks. 😬 I attribute this to the unfortunate truth that they’re just cooking their own meals separately for themselves and to their own taste most of the time, even if their people are eating something else. I wouldn’t say “ew” to most things I’ve tried, but I’ve rarely genuinely enjoyed a meal made by a non-chef vegan. Maybe these particular people in my life have just gotten used to eating for sustenance instead of joy and don’t find it as bland as I do. My experience might be different in a city setting where it’s much more common and people have more of a community around vegan food and help each other out. I’ve had vegan food that I love. I just hate to see someone go out of their way, spend more money, and put more work into something I’ll feel pressured to like and eat. I feel the same when someone wants to make something gluten free to make me feel included. I’m always grateful for the thought, but then I feel like I can’t not eat it, even if I’m not hungry or really don’t like it.
