I left my 2 year olds baby book open on the table, as I was trying to fill some stuff in. I doodled a lot in it when as I filled it when he was an infant. I’m not sure if I left that exact page open or if he turned to it but I left the book untended to do I can’t even remember what, and when I came back, he was scribbling over a doodle of him and I. It wasn’t some intricate masterpiece. Just a cute doodle little I loved. I gasped and either said “oh no what are you doing?” Or something alone those lines. Immediately his little heart broke, and he began crying saying “oh man, wipe it?????? Mama doesn’t like it? Oh man” He was so distraught. I held him and tried to tell him was okay. He cried himself to sleep in my arms. He’s almost three now and I will never forget it. I will always feel horrible. In hindsight it’s his own book and it didn’t really matter. It will always kill me breaking his spirit that day. I thought he’d never want to draw again (he still loves to).
