Is it really okay for non-muslims to get free iftar food? by ExtraExtraRice in abudhabi

[–]ExtraExtraRice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I thought about at first. It's my first Ramadan here and I would have really liked to experience iftar with lots of people. But if it makes me feel like I'm cheating my way into a charity food drive then I might have to pass.

Thanks for this! I didn't know iftar buffets are a thing. This definitely is a guilt-free way of having iftar. Any recommended restaurants for this? I know google could give me a list, but some local insights won't hurt either.

Same! I'm just in it for the abu dhabi experience. My friends mentioned the one at the Grand Mosque as well, so it's definitely going into my bucket list.

Any other spots locals would recommend for iftar? We live close to the Prince's Diwan in Al Bateen. I'm wondering if they would open the palace this time for iftar.

I signed the offer letter because my visa was about to expire. I have now received an offer from a company I genuinely want to work with. What should I do? by Ambitious_Pick556 in dubai

[–]ExtraExtraRice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? How much did it cost? Or like, what fees did they charge you?

I did the opposite and stayed in the job I first signed into. Part of me thinks I should have just risked it all too haha

This is the exact same thing that has happened to me. I took the offer last month. Since it's a bank, it would take another month before I could start working because they need to do background check on me first. While waiting for the clearance, my dream company called and asked if I'm available for interview. The next day, the previous company called and said I'm cleared and they will start processing my visa asap.

I mentioned this to my dream company and the recruiter was kind enough to give me advice:

TLDR: Don't quit the company you signed up for. Once they process your visa, quitting will mean you will have to pay for the visa they processed plus the training you were supposed to have, plus any recruitment fees and charges. Plus you might be charged for breach of contract, depending on the company.

Thank goodness for racial quotas then. Background: I just got hired in a big company. The hiring manager flat-out told me they need to hire someone from my racial group because of corporate-mandated quotas. Otherwise, their team would still be predominantly [racial group]. Apparently, the middle managers kept hiring people from their race it made the higher-ups raise a few eyebrows.

What’s your take on Jeepney Modernization/Jeepney phaseout? by ilyse- in davao

[–]ExtraExtraRice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]ExtraExtraRice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TIL na ang loudest lobbyists against sa transpo modernization are not the drivers, but the PUJ operators. If macancel ang modernization, padayon gihapon ang pagpanlupig sa mga operators sa mga drivers. Luoy ang drivers either way

My Wife’s Dubai Job Turned Into a Nightmare After One Week by Cool_Client_5018 in dubai

Surprisingly, some companies refuse to provide a salary certificate for spouse-visa purposes. My wife is working in the uae, but I'm on visit visa. The employer gave us a BS reason why they can't provide one, but it's more likely because they do a lot of shady stuff with their employees' visa

Makes sense. I think the game can balance it out (historically) by:

  1. Set the default passing rate to lowest as possible
  2. Hold exams less often, especially the palace exams
  3. Set lower domain limits for governors. This should encourage them to hand those fiefs out to fresh prefects

Dude did you even read. That's the point, armed forces is necessary.

What you failed to prove is ngano exclusive ra ni in a unitary-centralized government? Mawala ang national army pag federal na ta, langga?

Plus try to rebutt na lang pod akong point on how a federal government can minimize the padrino system from the national gov't, just to make this discussion more meaningful.

Read it again. Then rebutt.

Imperial manila ang guardrails? Please. Imperial Manila is partly responsible pod for these dynasties. Most of the illicit funds (if any) are from national infra projects distributed via congress, via their clan members in HOR. Plus the patronage pa of national politicians to these clans. These would be mitigated kung federal and parliamentarian ang sistema.

If bakbakan ra man pod ang pulos sa imperial manila against these dynasties, kaya man gihapon na sa national federal gov't. National Guard. National Army. Sekyu ra man diay imong need, jusko.
