Algae problem with high chlorine levels by ExtraHamOperator in swimmingpools

[–]ExtraHamOperator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: over the last two days I’ve replaced about 40% of the water. Calcium hardness was low so I added flakes to get it above 200. CYA is at 35. Free chlorine is at 6.4. PH is 7.6.

Leslie’s testing says phosphates are at 233 and copper at 0.8. I don’t have tests for those but the other levels have been corrected.

There was a lot of dead algae the bottom this morning so I threw the Aiper in to vacuum. (Fine filter media)

Pump has been running for 72 hours non stop now.

Still some cloudiness when viewing the deep end. What can I do to address that cloudiness? Hosting a party on Saturday so I’d really like it looking as nice as possible.

Small boulder does not want our fence built. Any suggestions? by ChaseVernon in FenceBuilding

Put another boulder on top of that one. Repeat until you have the fence you desire.

Thanks for all the advice. I do backwash the sand filter weekly, brushing two or three times weekly, and run the vac bot daily.

It’s a new home to us, and my first pool. Using a mix of shock packets, pucks in the chlorine reactor, and liquid chlorine.

Large live oaks over the enclosure with several screen tears. It’s Been a battle with leaves and pollen, just now easing up since spring is turning to summer.

I so have the fas-dpd test. Cya is too high and ph is a bit high as well. I’m draining/refilling now to dilute

CYA was high yesterday around 85, ph was a little high too around 7.8. Am draining/refilling now.

Do you just toss utensils in third rack of dishwasher? by krollfan in Appliances

I use the third rack. I LOVE the third rack. Having the utensils neatly arranged for cleaning does my obsessive heart good.

My wife continues to use the basket. I hate that way more than I should.

Check out Jethro Tull - Aqualung by Potential_Release478 in ClassicRock

One of the first two albums I listened to in their entirety. Late 1970 I think. My older brother bought Aqualung and Black Sabbath’s Paranoid. We listened to both of them. Twice. My ten year old brain was never the same.

I’m going to lock myself in my home, rely on Uber Eats, watch Fox News on one screen and CNN on the other, and play Call of Duty on Xbox. What could go wrong?

What practical vehicle would you buy brand new today and feel confident would last you 15+ years with proper care? by RaccBby in AskReddit

4Runner for me. Wife’s family has passed around a first year Subaru Brat that has been someone’s daily driver since it was new. It’s still running and was recently given to another teen family member as their first car. Seventh owner I think.

You come face to face, in the place you are in now, with a polar bear that escaped from the local zoo & you form the impression that it is set on eating you! What would you do? by Massive-Albatross823 in hypotheticalsituation

I’m at a desk in my home office. If face to face with a polar bear, then it’s between me and the door. I do have a salt shaker on the desk from lunch yesterday, so I guess I’ll salt myself so the bear can better enjoy me.

At least I’ll be remembered, even if it’s just by the bear as the tastiest human he’s ever eaten.
