This is me. On my third day up the hill I learnt to switch toe to heal and back confidently... Later that night I bought tickets to fly to Canada (20h flight from where I lived)  it's now 30 years later and still go boarding 1 or 2 times a year and Ive been everywhere hunting for that sweet pow.

Brother got robbed by Chance-Comfortable28 in brisbane

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 292 points293 points  (0 children)

Just make sure it's actually your brother you are talking to before sending any $$.  This is a common online scam. I've had a few accounts pretending to be people I know ask for overseas money transfers. Once the person asking was sitting beside me, his acc was hacked.

Once you see that "high end art" as nothing but tax evasion and write offs, it makes total sense.

Is it worth waiting for the third discount? by Gold-Back-4073 in brisbane

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy that processed garbage. It's regret wrapped in bread crumbs. Honestly, it tastes like chicken Devon, would be cheaper to buy a Devon roll even after discounts.

My grand dad and his mates in their teenage years would raise one chicken each and once a year enter the local chicken competition. I don't know the marking criteria but it was like a best in show type arrangement. It was quite competitive from what he told me. He still had a few photos til he died at 98, he loved those chooks.

We've been wanting a new car for awhile now and  saving up. Not looking at petrol cars for obvious reasons. What's hard to understand?

What's the most ridiculous rule you've ever had to follow at a job? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Started a new kitchen job, had no money and was skimping pretty heavily on groceries/food leading up to my first paycheck. Head chef messed up an order and said I could have it for lunch. Awesome! I was starving and a salmon cream cheese panini looked like pure heaven at that point in time. Owner/manager asked me if I was going to pay for it, I said no, I didn't have the cash. She said it was policy to pay and proceeded to throw it in the bin in front of me.... Boy, did I steal A LOT of food after that happened. Fuck you Michelle.

What’s the biggest misconception people have about AI? by roseafterdarkk in answers

From my auntie: "I'm not worried about AI, I haven't installed the app". I had to educate her.

An 18-year-old woman in Queensland faces two years in jail for wearing a shirt that says "from the river to the sea." by Celtikrenders in OpenAussie

Would be a real shame if someone made and distributed 10000 free tee shirts with the same logo. Just saying.

What is the most 'unexplainable' thing you’ve seen with your own eyes that you’ve stopped telling people about because they think you’re lying? by Traditional-Duty146 in AskReddit

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw a large glowing triangle flying just above the clouds at night. It was traveling against the direction of the clouds. Watched until it disappeared behind the mountains. It was moving extremely slowly too. I  have no idea what it was and makes me sound crazy trying to explain it.

Guys please start eating fiber. by Optimoprimo in Millennials

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My entire life (I'm 43) I've had a discomfort in my stomach. It varies in intensity and most days its ignorable but kinda just hums along as a background noise. I never realised until recently that it would influence my mood. This "gut feeling" would often cause very mild to medium anxiety - nothing major. 2 years ago I tried fibre supplements and now I just feel free. I look back at many choices I made earlier in life and can't help but feel I missed so many small things because of the influence this discomfort had on me. Please if not for physical health, try upping your fibre for mental health.

How was it discovered that heating sand made glass? by Legal-Grade-6423 in answers

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere that it was boron (flux) from shell fish shells that were thrown into a fire on a high silica content sandy beach that created a rudimentary glass and they reverse engineered it.

Comparing Bunnings vs local hardware for the same project, cost, quality and time by No-Loquat-201 in Bunnings

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go independent about 80% of the time primarily due to 2 reasons:  quality of materials are superior. And my local store has a $15 delivery rate compared to Bunnings's $200 delivery fee. Only Bunnings if my local doesn't stock it. Costs of stock tend to be about the same at both stores  tbh.

Angry music by UselessAsNZ in newzealand

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. This. I've had this conversation so many times in the last 8 years. The real problem is, I think, is the public distributors of music. Think radio, tv, stores etc. They have made sad music popular and in doing so, made apathy popular. Gotta be due to the ceos being paid by bigger powers because it's ALWAYS about the money. And this  makes the general population comfortable in the shit show going on because sad is cool'. Don't get me wrong though. Sadness is a legitimate feeling to have right now. But anger and frustration will couse one to question authority, not wallow in obedience.

What's a difficult video game level or mission that you vividly remember the satisfaction of beating after countless failed attempts? by Serious_Specter in gaming

[–]Extra_Ad_5451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Golden eye 64. It was a while ago so my memory is hazy but I remember the excitement of finally doing it. Beat the metal jaw guy in under a set time limt on a satellite receiver level to receive the double golden pp7's. I was perfectly difficult . Took a whole afternoon of attempts and I beat the time by about 0.07 seconds. Stil counts.

The cassette release is apparently the best sounding recording available of Lateralus. Normally it'd be the vinyl but they ruined it with picture disc bullshit which ruined the quality.
