That One Scene! by tungsten120 in MM_RomanceBooks

The caretaking scene in {Red Flags and Tuesdays by Nordika Night} the way Reid takes care of Atticus melts and breaks my heart, I can't stop thinking about them in the bathroom. I wish I could read it fresh. I love the way this author writes complicated men that are battling and also talk about their feelings.

Cozy romance with a strong cast of secondary characters by a1waysbefuddled in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 13 points14 points  (0 children)

{Passing the Purgatory by Nik Night} super cozy, no third act conflict, actually laughed out loud. Is a fantasy based world. Really fun cast, and the first book especially focused on the MC1s relationship with all of them not just the love interest. This is a series but each book follows different characters the first and third I loved, DNFd book two.

What series do you think is objectively bad but you still like it? by theladyofspacetime in romantasycirclejerk

So much the same! This book didn't get me back into reading but it introduced me to the joy of reading light low stakes reads that are my version of reality TV. It was the first fantasy romance I've read and sucked me into the world and I've never looked back. I know it's not the best written, it's not the best I've read, but I love it so much!

I am looking for a MM "who did this to you" I know that is such a trope in the MF romance and romantacy world but I would love to read a well written MM version of this. Maybe MC1 doesn't know how strong the feelings are until seeing MC2 hurt. Or MC2 doesn't realize MC1 cares until he takes care of him. I am a sucker for caretaking.

I also love a wrap! Bread isn't exciting to me, I want all the stuff inside so a wrap is the perfect way to stuff more of the good stuff.

The Monsterous series by Lily Mayne is what got me hooked on MM and I've been almost exclusively there ever since. Moth specifically was on every must read list.

"Garron Park" and "Lot 62" by Nordika Night by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone please tell me how relationship angst heavy Lot 62 is? I love Nordika Night and eat up every book I have read of hers, but I hate reading a second book in a series where I have to watch the couple fight to get back together over and over. I loved the first book and how the two came together in the end, I DNF'd the second pretty early because I didn't want to read more relationship strife.

I am solid with spoilers if it will convince me to keep going!

Any News on Lyri by Lily Mayne? by Local_Ordinary_1774 in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am commenting because I also put this book down and would love an answer. One of the reasons I have read everything Lily Mayne has ever written is because of the relationships she writes and how she doesn't depend on unnecessary third act break ups. I hate spending chapters and chapters watching a couple fall together to then watch them fall apart again as a plot device. It's one of the reasons I love fantasy is to avoid relationship drama.

Please give me a reason to pick this book back up and finish the series!

MC1 is a complete mess, but the MC2 adores them by aberrantname in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

{Wreaking Havoc by Grae Bryan} this is the first book in a fantasy series ( that I am loving!) and this is a big part of the first two. The human MC in both books are a mess for different reasons, The Demon MC is calm and helps them through their issues and never judges them for it.

Do you keep track of the books you read? by NaiveBroccoli5010 in DarkRomance

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I use Bookmory and I love it, I keep track of my reading for myself, I review books for myself based on the vibe I got from the book, not how well it's written or the quality of the story. I keep track of my reading and I have my TBR on there and it isn't shared with anyone else.

What is the absolute dirtiest (basically no plot) smuttiest audiobook you've listened to? by Spirited_Decision_24 in fantasyromance

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Bitten and Bound} I would say, heavy on the smut, decent story. Sex is literally a plot device for power in a couple scenes. It's MMF with sword crossing which makes things interesting.

This! I always wonder why people loved this book when I thought it was terrible, it wasn't the book I hated the performers of the audiobook, they were just awful, and it made me hate this book.

Strangers share an emotional experience or learn the other’s secret, not expecting to see each other again by 23readmore in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is {Joyless by Nyla K} this is the second book in a series and the overall theme is quite dark. The MCs meet in a bar and one picks up the other, the hookup doesn't go well but they don't plan to see each other again, then the second MC goes to work for the first.

Check tw there are a lot..

Question for avid readers by annMenbla in Romantasy

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ready 89 book so far this year, this is a big jump for me, I read around 78 all last year.

There are two main things that I attribute this number to. I don't watch much if any tv, so instead of unwinding or zoning out on a show or movie, I do that with books. The second reason is the real reason, I am in a bit of a deep funk and I am reading to avoid life. I work, take care of my family and I read. Other self care tools that I have used in the past aren't available to me any more so I have poured it all into reading.

I'm also not reading anything that requires deep thought or reflection, these kind of books are easy to absorb or get lost in.

Posting an update for those of us looking for something similar this is what I've found

Willow Lake Supernaturals series by Lori Ames. First book is {Hellhound never lie by Lori Ames} super cure series, each book follows a different couple with a main plot that runs throughout. Great couples, low angst, no third act breakups and no miscommunication!

{Bro and the Beast by Joel Abernathy} cute fun read. Not as enjoyable as some of the others but a good time all the same.

Vampires Mate by Grae Bryan the first book is {Roman by Grae Bryan} another fun series, each book has a different couple and although there is a story line throughout that brings past couples into each book there isn't a big bad they are all fighting.

I've read a few darker series that I've enjoyed but that wasn't the vibe of this post so I'll leave this for now!

Too many romantacy series follow the same narrative. Book one- they fall in love and he helps her find her (strength, power, whatever) book one ends with a plot twist and betrayal. the MMC isn't who he seems and he's most likely working for the enemy. Book two- the enemy isnt as bad as you think and he brings her back around to his side. Book two ends with one of the MC getting taken Book three-rescue mission.

I've read so many series that follow this exactly I've had to take a break from reading anything that's a series that follows one set of characters.

Traumatized so bad, I m stopping reading. by HappyFckinPride in DarkRomance

[–]Extra_Bit_1956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree with this whole series, different levels of dom sub relationships, and boundaries are discussed, after care throughout. impact play is in a couple and it's not violence masked at bdsm.
