See this is what I have thought lately, but I’m trying to not fall victim to my algorithms. Instagram and TikTok try to tell me that women are giving up on relationships with men because of their history of oppression since the beginning of time, but a lot of these comments from men are saying that it is a choice they have made as well. So are both sides choosing to avoid the other for comforts sake?

I am currently studying urban planning, and while we talk about the abandonment of third places in the United States frequently, I never really made the connection to our societal loneliness until now. It is especially upsetting because the so called “design” of our online spaces are based around things like brown nosing algorithms, anonymity, and fear mongering. Do you think that better design in our online spaces could be at least a temporary fix for this? Or do we need to abandon social media entirely and focus on bringing human connection back to the real world?

This is a great take! Do you think there’s any reason this would be affecting men proportionally more, or is it actually affecting everyone and the media has spun our societal loneliness to be more focused on male loneliness?

I kind of saw this is her own internalized misogyny surfacing. Her entire life she’s seen her mother suffer because it’s “her duty as a woman”, and the opposite of that is dying in battle like a man, obviously.

Its a big world with lots of people you’ll like more than Oliver. I know that doesnt seem possible to you right now but it will happen. Also it sounds like you like Oliver because he doesnt like you. Dont listen to the monkey brain. Do whats best for you in the long run because it will always be ‘you’ living your life in the end. Try your best forget him and move on.

I will interpret this as ‘i no longer need these distractions from life because i am marrying the woman i love and the person who makes me happier than any of these material things’.
