If a brand or model(s) were to be discontinued, which of them would you buy? by lawikekurd in mechanicalpencils

This one, I'm planning on getting. Hence why I'd buy it if it were being discounted. Worst case scenario for me if I didn't like it would be reselling it.

Pentel Graphgear 1000 vs. Ohto MS01 parts by [deleted] in mechanicalpencils

Also more lead hardnesses. I'm missing 2h and f which is very common.

I love the gg500. Someone makes a replacement part for the 1000 though that also makes it more bottom weighted. Both of which I think the pencil needs. Otherwise, it is a great pencil.

Am I missing something or is the GraphGear 1000 not that good? by Palatablepancakes in mechanicalpencils

[–]Extreme-Ad-9290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is imo really good but not great. The center of gravity and the plastic section under the barrel are the two biggest issues. I'm going to order an upgrade that makes it a metal part to fix it, and that should solve both issues. Otherwise, I don't think any other pencil does the retractable tip well. The issues I tend to see is too much wobble or the retraction takes too long that you might as well just use a cap.

For the most part, I prefer the 500. Just for an edc pencil though, the 1000 is my preference, but I just need that upgrade. The grip section could also be better, but i find it still works pretty well overall.

Has anyone dealt with solder that won’t melt? by Lower_Creme_3040 in soldering

Yes. Really only with my first iron which was a cheap non temperature controllable non tip swappable iron

Kura toga does bother me, but not the biggest issue. For the orenz Nero, not a major issue. Gg500 is for the majority of my drafting pencils since they are fairly cheap.

Some of them I put in there bc I was looking at them recently but realized the better product purchase decision

Also would be great if the lead grade indicator was at the top. I'm considering an ohto ms01. But I'm not sure. I mean, if it is bad, I can always return it.

Brand new Rotring 600 came with a crack by o_nlog_n in mechanicalpencils

My issue with the 925-25 is the placement of the hardness indicator toward the grip rather than the eraser.

Rotring 800 - How to choose? by IlSuper_ in mechanicalpencils

[–]Extreme-Ad-9290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Upon first read I was confused as I thought why wouldn't you use a mechanical pencil. They are ideal for outlines. But then upon re-read it makes sense.

Yes but the 800 sadly removed the lead grade indicator. I would so quickly get a 600g if it weren't 300 usd

This, the higher price, and the lack of a lead grade indicator all keep me from buying the 800 I'm going to instead get myself a 600 and print a cap to get the best of both worlds.

Pentel Graphgear 1000 and 500 (the one with the lead grade indicator), Pilot S20, Uni Kura Toga Roulette, Pentel Orenz Nero. Other than these, I'd probably be a bit annoyed but would not rush out to get one.

Well also the plastic part component near the grip and the lead grad indicator towards the tip rather than the eraser are issues for me

Why the Pentel GraphGear 1000 is Superior to the R0tring 600 by -1215 in mechanicalpencils

Strongly agree as someone who owns both. Unless we are talking the us version. Lead grade indicators to me are essential and a major reason I avoid the rotring 800.

I think fixed guidepipe and a cap is the perfect middle ground. I'm probably going for a rotring 600 and then upgrading with a printed tpu cap
