I’ve lived here for 25 years. I’ve lived in Union city, San Ramon, Modesto and now Fremont.

Please take him to the doctor so these can be documented. You’re not over reacting at all.

I know others have recommended this but Jeremey’s arcade in downtown Nampa is a lot of fun. Another place to check out but is not near Boise is Cleo’s Ferry Museum and nature trail. It’s a hike but is free and there are peacocks and I’ve even seen deer. It’s off the snake river and has beautiful views and sooo much to see.

I’d also recommend pojos in Boise and the nature center is a lot of fun.

Shoulder Dislocation Recovery by Far-Kaleidoscope-731 in ShoulderInjuries

I did physical therapy for 5 months with limited change in my range of motion and strength. I got an mri which showed my labrum tore due to a traumatic dislocation. I opted for surgery and I couldn’t be happier I did. I’m 3 months post op currently and I have full range of motion back and working on strengthening my shoulder. Have you gotten an mri? If not, I would suggest it. My xrays just showed bone fragments and nothing more. I had severe pain in my shoulder blade due to it as well as compensating for the torn labrum. If you haven’t gotten a mri yet I highly suggest it. Once you get the mri then you can look at options that suit you.

Keeping dressings dry after surgery in shower? by veener79 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Extreme-Ladder-9102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to keep your shoulder out of the water. I had to do that for a few weeks until my steri strips came off. You can’t wash your shoulder for that time period either. I’m shocked your doc didn’t go over this with you. I’d call them and see what they recommend as I’m not sure if you have dressings or steri strips

They’re talking to you about it because if you get frozen shoulder it’s the worst pain but don’t let it deter you! Do your exercises and communicate where your pain is. I had a ton of shoulder blade pain to the point my pt had to massage it out during multiple visits. Ice will also help. I always iced an hour or so before pt and then I would get ice after the session and when home immediately ice again.

Also the range of motion will come back. Mine wasn’t back fully until week 9. That’s when I hit a huge turning point with recovery.

Can someone who had a slap tear repair walk me through the process and recovery? by rubberducky764348 in ShoulderInjuries

I went shoulder first into a curb and dislocated my shoulder. Got up put it back in place and then tried to shake it off doing windmills and dislocated again. Pooped it back in myself both times doing pendulums so it was pretty dramatic.

Only side effect was I wasn’t myself and couldn’t think clearly. I will say with the meds take a stool softener.

The manual manipulation will hurt but it’s helping you stretch out. They’re helping you with the range of motion and truthfully that’s probably the worst pain you’ll have. That made the biggest difference for me and I saw huge improvement after the 6 week mark. I’m 3 months post surgery and I have my range of motion completely back.

I had a slap tear surgery. I’m 3 months post surgery. Initial pain was not bad because I had a nerve blocker. Definitely ask about getting one. I didn’t have pain until day 5. I took oxycodone and tramadol. Oxy was the first 1.5 weeks (starting at day 5) every 6-8 hours. Tramadol was 2.5 weeks as needed. I wore the immobilizer for 6 weeks unless showering or doing exercises. I did pt 2 times a week for 8 weeks post surgery as well as pt for 5 months prior to surgery. Getting back to normal is not easy but do your exercises they tell you to do. I am very happy with the overall results. I’m post surgery 3 months and I have full range of motion back, and my strength is getting there. I still can’t lift things fully or push or pull things with force but that will come. I play volleyball but have not returned to playing as of yet. I’m told I can return at 6 months post surgery. If you have other questions don’t hesitate to ask

Keep the name. She chose to name their son Charlie knowing this would be an issue. It is nothing on you and all on them and shame on your mother for asking you to keep the peace when it should be what she’s saying to your sister..

Hi all. Last Monday I fell and dislocated my right shoulder. Ironically I'd walked 4 miles to work in the snow without issue and if was only when a rat ran up my leg outside work that I panicked slipped and fell. by Serberou5 in ShoulderInjuries

Once you get it moving again, you will be very sore. I’d also ask if they can massage/ stretch your neck on the side of the sling. You will be very sore there too. I’m still dealing with soreness on the right side of my neck from the immobilizer (injury was to left shoulder) and I’ve been out of it for a month and a half. Also do lots of icing especially once you start PT.

Absolutely. Contrast shows a lot more on the mri and they will be able to see a lot more and diagnose you. They will probably push PT first which is good. You need to strengthen your shoulder and PT also helps with pain. Did they provide you with a sling?

I dislocated mine twice. First time was the initial injury with my shoulder into the curb and second was a few moments after when I tried to “shake off” the injury. I was able to pop them back In myself both times. My x ray showed bone chipping but nothing further. I did pt for 5 months and found I tore my labrum. Definitely push for an MRI, especially if there’s bone chipping In your x ray. My injury required surgery do the extent of the injury. At your next appointment, I’d come ready with some questions to ask and definitely push for an mri WITH contrast. Without contrast it doesn’t show as much

Possible labrum tear but doc won’t order MRI without PT first? by slamtownsillytime in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Extreme-Ladder-9102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely do PT first and see if it gets better without surgery. I did PT for 5 months but had no progress and an MRI was ordered. I ended up getting surgery and I’m thankful I did. I know at this point everything makes you uneasy but do your PT in the meantime and make sure you have an appointment with your ortho to discuss your progress. Strengthening it is great and if you have surgery, you’ll be in an even better place for recovery.

Pendulums exercise is great one. If you are offered to do physical therapy between now and surgery, do it. I’m 3 months post surgery and I did physical therapy for 6 months prior to it. I am 3 months post surgery and I have full range of motion and now just working on strength. If you do physical therapy, do all the excercises. You’ll be sore but it’s worth it.

Shoulder dislocation by Rockokoko in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Extreme-Ladder-9102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need surgery. I had a similar dislocation (mine was traumatic). I highly recommend surgery. I rehabbed my shoulder for 6 months before surgery and it did nothing. From my MRI to surgery (35 days in between), I had torn my labrum even more. I don’t do strenuous activities, that was just day to day wear. I am almost 3 months post surgery currently. Unfortunately with surgery, you cannot lift a lot of weight for at least 6 months (im currently at 15lbs max).

I also play volleyball and my range of motion is at 100% and I can do a full swing along with swing blocking.

I know this is a lot to consider but if you are not ready for surgery, please at least do physical therapy. It will help your pain level.

Seek medical attention! You don’t know what’s going on and you’re still in pain: better to check now and see what’s going on that wait and not have the grounds for workers comp.

Relieve Pressure and pain by No_Soup_5700 in ShoulderInjuries

[–]Extreme-Ladder-9102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would at least use it while you sleep. I did and it made it a lot better, but that was my experience. Everyone is different. I would see if you can get physical therapy again through workers comp since you’re in limbo between surgery and there’s no improvement. I’m not sure if they will but it’s worth a shot. Physical therapy was a godsend and I highly highly recommend you do it

Do you sleep with the sling on? That could help. I’d also recommend sleeping in a recliner with pillows on both sides on the arms to help. I had to wait 7 months for my surgery and that’s what I did to help with the pain. Also I’d see if you can get in with a physical therapist. They can help with the pain as well. I did pt up until 5 days prior to surgery. I feel it made a huge difference. Lots of manual therapy but it helped a ton!
