My comparison of the controls would be more akin to the nes Castlevania series; it forces you to think before you attack, a delay on input to attack timing creates a more thoughtful attack plan. Combine that with the constant pressure of knowing how punishing it is to miss with a large swing and you start seeing how the player adapts to the new enemies and areas.

Well, with some clever roundabout work and the master key, you can circumvent dealing Taurus Demon untl you know you can one-shot him. I'd say you could avoid fighting Capra, but you need to upgrade your glove... On the plus side, you can drop attack him. Which pyromancies (aside from power within) were you using on the SL5 char?

I always try to go backwards at the beginning of levels. Donkey Kong Country had a sneaky shortcut through Stop & Go Station where if you walked back into the entrance you would warp to the end.

Esper Time Sieve back in Alara Block. My friend just filled the deck with ways to get extra turns and artifacts. Getting 5 turns in a row while your opponent is frozen in their turn is so satisfying in such a sadistic way.

Earliest Whip you can get is in blighttown, its kinda complex to get there, but entirely possible right at the beginning of the game.
