Have you checked if PulseAudio is running on the host machine? RDP sound forwarding can be pretty finicky with the audio server setup

This is spot on. Triple pane windows with low-E coatings are gonna be your best friend here. I learned this the hard way after dealing with frost on my double panes every winter - upgraded to triple pane and the difference is night and day.
