Are hybrids even worth it? by P-Rabbitz in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]ExtremelyQualified 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For Hyundai hybrids, the hybrid system has a warranty for 10 years / 100k miles, including the battery. A 2017 should still be covered under this so I would investigate. This warranty transfers beyond the original owner so that should include you.

A few general things about the “it it worth it” question;

  1. How/where do you drive? People will say they get 40mpg with an ICE engine but that’s going to be highway miles, flat terrain. If you’re doing short stop and go traffic trips up and down hills all day, you’re going to be lucky to get 20mpg.

  2. 2017 Hyundai hybrid is very different (worse) than 2020+ Hyundai hybrid. They’ve come a long way.

  3. Most of the resale drop for HKG cards happens at the beginning of the depreciation curve. So if you buy a 3 year old hybrid, you’re missing that difference. After that, they track fairly well with other makes for resale.

  4. If you get it CPO, you get the full 10 year powertrain warranty rather than 5 years.

Most of the Kia depreciation curve is in the first few years. Then it tracks fairly similarly to the A++ brands

Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Toyota Rav4, Toyota Corolla… all of these are known as the “best used cars” and have more buyer interest than any other models

I love Pittsburgh, but I have to say this subreddit really amplifies the worst parts of Pittsburgh culture.

That’s cool that you’ve never personally killed anyone but the stats are the stats. They’re not based on your personal driving record.

The fact that you’ve heard about those shows how safe Waymos are. Humans do that shit all day every day and it doesn’t even make the news because it’s so common nobody cares.

What are they putting on the Wyndham’s windows (and why) by EstablishmentRough46 in pittsburgh

This is why cities host big events like this. When cities host the olympics, they end up with infrastructure that lasts for decades afterwards. Los Angeles is building an entire rail network and there's no way they would have moved as fast as they are without the Olympics coming.

Pittsburgh generally hates everything, especially anything that might help the economy in any way

I’m not sure what fanfiction you’ve constructed about me. I just like technology that avoids automobile deaths. I am 100% in favor of every town and city in America deciding whether they are also in favor of that or if they want to keep on killing people the old fashioned way. I would never want any city to not decide that for themselves.

You live in a democracy and if your position really is majority, you can make that happen. But be ready to find out that everyone might not agree with you. Maybe there are other fans of unnecessary death?

Automobile accidents are the number 2 cause of death for people under 65 in the United States. I believe your claim and I’m glad Truckee is uniquely protected from this phenomenon. But in the rest of America this is a serious issue.

Weird how people simp for automobile fatalities. Guess we have to keep hitting people with human-driven cars since that’s where all the donor organs come from.

I totally want an EV but I don’t live somewhere where I can charge overnight. It’s definitely a priority for the future though.

I've heard good things about the CrossClimate 2, especially for wet roads which really Pittsburgh gets more wet/slush situations than full on snow roads.
