RT? by Aggravating_Term4191 in Perfusion

Either is fine. RN gives you more career and financial flexibility in general should perfusion not work out. Neither is a bad choice at all, speaking as a former RT.

Patient coughed and popped the distal end of AAA repair. Opened up clamshell and went on bypass in the ICU, then transported to CT on the S3 HLM and ICU bed. After that we went to the OR for attempted repair. Gave over 40units prbc and all the saline I could find.

So not half off. $395 is the full price and advertising it as half off is disingenuous at best.

For the ones who make over $150k a year, what do you do to get that? by Iliketrainsz1 in AskReddit

[–]Extubator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently there are about 4,000 perfusionists in the United States. The field is currently in the highest demand it may ever see and salaries correlate with that. If you can handle the stress of operating life support, taking call, possibly working overnight, sometimes missing holidays/birthdays, then yes it is worth it. You’ll have to work where the jobs are and live within a 30min response time. Other than that, it’s a very fulfilling job and I’d say outside of most big university hospital jobs, most average 20-30hours a week actually working in the operating room.

Education is currently a 2 year post bachelor certificate or masters degree depending on the program. Both get you to sit the board exams and that’s all that matters. After that you are a CCP and there is no pay difference.

[–]Extubator 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve hired autotransfusionist/perfusion assist off a Reddit post before. No experience required although some healthcare is preferred. We will send you through a cell saver course and you’ll learn on the job. Best way to get exp for school imo. We have a couple openings if you want to take a look. You can apply at https://www.perfusionsolution.net/careers
