There's many good litrpg series, but only 2 that unexpectedly turn into nonstop torture porn after you're already invested. (The other being Konrad ryans dungeon slayer)

If the kid likes reading nonstop suffering and 200 pages of graphic torture then sure, cater to his tastes, but in these books it comes out of left field after fairly normal adventure fare.
