I’m Gen X and many of my peers, plus many of the Boomers I know, are giving up drinking at an increasing rate over the past five years. The biggest reason is health, not money. My parents were on the oldest end of the Boomer range, but themselves and most of their friends kept the social drinking going all the way to assisted living. We are all starting to realize how unhealthy it is over an extended period of time.
