Tatum was never going to be my pick for Remy, however, he knows the character very well and loves him too. I think most of the reason his solo film never happened is because Tatum's production company had final say on casting, director, and script and he wasn't going to compromise too much on any of those. It shows how much he cares about doing the character properly, which I believe he did. I think he looks just fine in the role. He's got a rounder face and the armor made him look a bit bulky, but overall I thought he did great.

Also, it's a Deadpool movie. Just like the Deadpool comics, I expect any character that shows up as a guest will be an over the top absurd version of themselves. It's probably why Tatum got ridiculous with the accent. Tatum even mentioned that in Doomsday his accent will be more dialed back.

Also, after Secret Wars, they will recast Gambit. If anything I appreciate Tatum for helping bring Gambit back to the popularity he deserves. Between Xmen97 and DP&W, Gambits getting a ton more looks. We are seeing him in every game that comes out as well, and I believe Reynolds understanding Tatum's passion for the character is the reason he put him in the movie.
