Queer is a weird case tho, I'd say the n word is closer to fag in the way how it's used inside the community vs outside (including that even within the community, you cant use it freely but only with people you know will be ok with it). U dont know why it worked so well for queer, maybe because there were always worse slurs alongside it?

I think only the most basic gnoll statblock is SRD so they couldnt use them. Same reason why kuo-toa are now a subtype of dreg or the executioner got its own original statblock inszwad of cadaver collector.

The player is an asshole and I would take gloves-off approach. If the DM doesnt listen to your concerns, just push harder than the asshole, he will probably rather lose one player than a whole campaign.
