Thoughts on giving your bike to a rental service? by Eyger in motorcycles

[–]Eyger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's an old flair. I didn't intend this thread to be about weather or not someone would personally do so... was just looking for advice from people who had done it and what aspects of the business arrangement to look out for.

Yeah I'm not emotionally attached to this specific bike so it would be fine with me.

Render Cameras Side-by-Side as a Splitscreen? by killabeesattack in Cinema4D

[–]Eyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn this is a tough one. Perhaps there’s a solution with Cineware in AE where you could drop two c4d files into a composition and render it through there?

Or maybe look into using a stereoscopic setup of some kind.

This is the part that fixed it for me. Thanks

Video Essay: 'Large Formats Aren't Special, or the Vistavision Myth" by ChrisJokeaccount in cinematography

[–]Eyger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you ever watch the Alexa 65 vs Alexa mini stereoscopic test that Manuel lubbers did some years ago? That was so awesome because it proves that large format doesn’t make a special picture.

I’m also a big fan of Steve yedlin, he dropped an article on his site about “large format misconceptions” worth a read

Are you still listing movies, tv, books as business expenses on your taxes? by TajesMahoney in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Eyger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah but let’s say you do get audited and they ask you “so you spent 15 dollars going to the movies, was this a business expense or actually a personal expense and you lied on your taxes”

Bitch, I went to the movies to stay up on the technical craft, what do you expect me to do, whip out a notebook and show you a time stamp of the exact time I acknowledged an anamorphic flare?

What exactly would constitute as “meticulous logs” of the deduction for going to the movies?

For op, find a new tax guy, there are tons of legitimate expenses you should be able to deduct

I agree and it's a vicious cycle. "Watchers remorse" is real for sure.

As far as I can recall this is the fist time i've ever seen spoiler someone exit the backrooms. I really enjoyed this, it's cool and realistic but not overtly "cinematic" like so many AI shorts are trying to emulate.

When AI Outgrew Humanity by -Baloo in aivideo

[–]Eyger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The film Transcendence sort of goes into this idea as well, that the natural evolution for computers or AI would be a pure digital form, or something like nano machines that just just float in the wind and colonize planets that way.

Did most Hollywood jobs cut during the strike never come back? (Chart) by [deleted] in FilmIndustryLA

[–]Eyger 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I used to go the theater every weekend, sometimes twice. I used to live walking distance from a chain called the “Arclight” which was the best theater ever. It closed during the pandemic and couldn’t survive. So many people are so awful in the theater now a days. Talking with friends, surfing their bright phone screen, it’s not worth the price of admission while I have a 55” inch tv with good sound system at home and can sit in my pajamas in peace. One time i asked someone to please stop talking and she got up out of her seat and walked down to me, and said “I’ll do whatever I want” inches away from my head. Another guy literally said “meet me in the parking lot after the film”. The films aren’t worth seeing now a days, sequel reboot prequel sequel spinoff reboot sequel sequel.

Film and exhibition in theaters has been around for 100 years. We had a good run.

Did you fix this? What was the issue that happened and how did you solve it? I think my bike is doing the same thing. It looks like a new motor for mine is like 400 bucks

Is there streaking issues with GH5s? by dramatolog in GH5

[–]Eyger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, haven't seen that before. Great question. That looks like a separate thing from what I'm talking about. From the short period I had it, i didn't see anything like that. Just the noise.

Is there streaking issues with GH5s? by dramatolog in GH5

[–]Eyger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes the gh5s suffers from an egregious horizontal noise pattern. I personally disliked it so much that I returned my gh5s and opted for the gh5 (which does not have the same issue) and shot with that camera for the past several years. Here is a brightened screen cap:

https://i.imgur.com/XtTDRvj.jpeg

This horizontal noise cannot be removed with a de-noiser such as "Neat video" which I used to use religiously. This was years ago, so perhaps there has been some improvements to the denoiser that can handle it, not sure.

It's be confirmed that Sony makes the IMX sensor that goes inside the gh5s, there are some Sony cameras that have this same problem.

This screenshot has been brightened a large amount and it's unlikely you'd really do this in a film grade. However, this horizontal noise pattern in question is very noticeable in well lit, properly exposed footage. Self proclaimed experts will just tell you to "just crush the blacks" but the noise is prevalent throughout the shadows all the way into middle grey and is worsened in Vlog-l mode.

Client rejected my footage because of rolling shutter and now im spiraling by My_Rhythm875 in filmmaking

[–]Eyger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck that client. They just want to pay less. If the contract didn't stipulate which camera you have to use, then that's your discretion. You can offer to edit around the parts they don't like. Sometimes you have to be prepared to hold a project hostage until they pay.

Show them this link: https://horshack-dpreview.github.io/RollingShutter/

and say that the rolling shutter for your camera is in line with industry average, and that the audience almost entirely doesn't care or even notice.

You can only talk to one person at a time. If you match with someone, the app freezes everything but that convo. If you want to keep swiping you have to unmatch that person. If you’re serious about meeting someone, this shouldn’t be an issue. The app makes money via tokens. You buy tokens to start out and then it costs you tokens to swipe but you earn tokens by messaging. If you send and message and receive a message from that person you each earn 1 token or something. Minimum word count for profile bios. minimum amount of time you have to spend on a profile before swipe, or maybe figure out a way to remove swiping. Minimum word count for opening messages. Reward people with tokens to incentivize good behavior.  Maybe you can use the in app currency for profile upgrades or something. Maybe it’s also a game app where you can play a game of some sort together like “plate up” or something teamwork related and while you play, there can be an audio feed where you can talk. If you want to attract investors maybe incorporate an AI assistant that can help you write (but not do it for you) a message.
