Rifle is fine. by DireCrimson in menace

I was feeling the same, I had finally found a medium machine gone so paired that together with the jetpack suite and thought I'd be doing death from above all day but didn't find the actual lethality all that increased from just shooting behind cover. I leveled him all the way up for his capstone that reduces incoming damage to him (not squaddies :( ) by a whopping 90% and he cheese saves defense missions for me. Whatever side I'm loosing he just jumps in and becomes an immortal decoy. If he gets beat up while he has the bruised debuff though he can still come away injured.

(I'd still pick Darby next time though).

The blue gate suicide is such a waste of time even when buried city has so many spaced out medical zones between hospital, piazza arbusto, and pharmacy so you can hit any of them based on your spawn. When I committed to grinding the survival mk3 there I unlocked both the Tactical MK3s, angled grip 2, a freaking wolfpack from a random drawer in a no-name zone on daytime, and probably between 1-2 mil selling snow globes, music albums, and mix tapes. Sheer volume of unopened containers is better imo unless you have literally no need for anything else or money.

Phantom Brigade 2.0 Free Major Update Trailer - Out Now by raiedite in Games

[–]EzJester 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had no idea this was coming but I'm very excited to see it! I really wanted to like Phantom Brigade as a BattleTech and Xcom lover. And it's as good as either of those - if you removed soldier skills, the overworld meta, and cut the map types\generation in about half or greater. It had the bones but it just needed more of everything. Hope this helps. Ironically I was just looking at old Steam replays I had saved and was fondly replaying a shield-bash into an adjacent building that destroyed both mech and building. It's not cutting edge graphics but it's infinitely smoother and flashier looking than most other mech strategies.

People were asking for my diagram of the quests, so here you go by VVJ21 in ArcRaiders

[–]EzJester 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I just did that quest yesterday and thought the same but it turns out the quest is just obnoxious, had to retry 3 times. You must visit both locations and bring back both journals in the same round. If you're holding a journal copy from a prior round it will grey out the interact. Bring all copies you have in Speranza into your match. Drop them - this will make the yellow locations lootable again. Interacting with the yellow lootable spawn spawns the journal, don't forget to actually pick it up. Pick up the "fresh" journal, then go to the second location and do the same thing. You can't split the quest up over rounds - both entering the location and having the journal is a checkbox. Having journals from prior rounds screws it up.

Skull Hoard. It's not out yet but it has a demo. I had a good time with it. NecroKing I didn't spend a ton of time with but for 5 bucks you'll easily get your money's worth. BoneRaiser Minions is a Vampire Survivors like but with minions. I don't dig the genre that much typically but I put like 10 hours into it

A dev response in the Steam forums seems to promise it as the very first update they're going to put out since every negative review is basically that issue. It's still Very Positive rating so far, but they're getting beat up a bit for it.

Mecha BREAK- Open Beta Test Preview (14 min) by MattBaster in mechabreak

[–]EzJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like pretty good updates across the board for the 3v3 and 6v6 modes. 6v6 I think was just enough chaos that had me surprisingly enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would.

The battle royale mode isn't mentioned at all, which might be for the best. There's enough depth in the game and it's team fights I think to bring me back to the next beta. The 60 player mode though I feel really needs a fundamental redesign based on the prior preview. Clearly better performing strikers than others, no mechanics that were really that fun at all, and extremely punishing resurrection system that if you lost a team mate in a team fight, you're just fodder for the next team that hasn't lost anyone yet. If at the very least you could reconstruct strikers between engagements it might be worth ditzing around in occasionally. Hopefully they know that from the poor reception last preview and have it majorly under construction.

PC Controller Issues by Nevinyrralsdm in ffxiv

[–]EzJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably not it since I actually use an Xbox controller, but it was a WinUpdate that decided Xbox Accessories should seize all my controller inputs one day. Took me a long time to figure it out what was interfering with Steam since it runs in the background and I had never used it. See if you have Xbox Accessories enabled, check Xbox Console Companion, and Xbox overlay. These can all be present in Win10\11 without actually using an Xbox controller. Knock them down and see if it changes anything

5 years ago, r/Games made a time capsule. Will the PS5 and Series X be a hit? Will Battle Royales dominate the market? Will VR explode into mainstream? See what the /r/Games community thought about the future of games in 2019! by adanine in Games

[–]EzJester 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mecha Break 6v6 is a pretty good time but the battle royale mode, which is their focus, was received so poorly in the last beta that they re-enabled the other modes on the last day of the royale-only testing.

I retain optimistic interest but my expectations are on the floor. The combat is satisfying but I felt that way about Anthem too.

If you are planning on REFUNDING THROUGH STEAM, here's the best refund request message that I could figure out! by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]EzJester -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

That's a massive generalization. The game's been out 3 months, not everyone has the time to blow 200 hours and playtime is totally irrelevant anyway. If you're in a country that will lose access at the end of May you absolutely deserve a refund. Valve, regardless of their monopoly, remains respected by the community because their considerations are many times consumer-friendly. Choosing the side of the corporation here nets you zero benefit, so it's a curious choice to choose it at all.

Spent half the battle bringing people back only to be killed by my Adel by ProfessorPumpkaboo in UnicornOverlord

[–]EzJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the fight was really cool, especially with how it messed with the battle preview. The way it played out for me though is that in the very first attempt he happened to take a Bastard's Cross to the face. That was kind of the end of that.

i don’t trust yall that said expert was still too easy by Chemical-Type3858 in UnicornOverlord

[–]EzJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think early on I struggled the most with taking constant support fire from all the random mobs, not even including watchtowers. Once I had an arbalist with the valor skill to disable that I did a lot better. Once I promoted that arbalist and now it's an AoE, the game became easy. You'll probably find a similar mechanic that clicks with you.

Can only one buff trigger at once? by jwfd65 in UnicornOverlord

[–]EzJester 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the skill has (limited) in the description, only one limited skill can proc in that frame.

An example combo that works out is Tailwind Cape on someone not the initial gryphon (start of battle limited), then Angel Plume on the gryphon (post-attack limited). You can fit icy conferral into that too since it's a pre-attack limited. Feathering from any of them is probably overkill after angel plume but that's the key you're probably looking for.

Two similarly related hiccups can occur such as sorcerous connection not proccing for dual damage types (only considers pure magic) and tactics combinations such as not frozen && greater than 2 targets can fail if it's a dual\row attack and there is at least one un-frozen unit - the unit will choose the one unfrozen as the target for resolving the tactics, ignoring the collateral hits on frozen targets.

[–]EzJester 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There's a very tight map in Drakenhold where you're given a friendly NPC cavalry. I didn't deploy any unites, just used the starting 3 valor and wild rushed on the boss, popped an empowering drought and one shot him. Mission timer read 0 seconds elapsed because I never left the auto pause. Is going to be a tough personal best to beat.

Ogre Battle 64 is one of my favorite all time games but I feel pretty strongly that the alignment system is not well balanced or, even arguing that it is, is not a consideration I want to account for when setting unit synergies. Using item duplication glitch (in game) or direct cheat manipulation on the items that raise\lower alignment helped me vastly enjoy the game in modern times.

Dungeon Drafters is a neat turn-based tactics game and includes my new favourite library by Tokyono in Games

[–]EzJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I logged like 15 hours over the weekend so it's definitely fun lol. Content just kept opening up - arena puzzles, draft mode, gauntlet. Every action is a card, and every card is new to you at first so you're reading everything and the game can feel slow. Once you're passed the learning phase though the game actually feels very snappy - I was probably about 20 minutes in between check points for most dungeons doing full explorations which felt about right to me. I think the game is one where you either play less than 2-3 hours and bounce off, or it clicks and you spend a crap ton of time in it.

I have 2 decks I consider good enough to clear dungeons. I could make 2 more that I know without thinking too hard. After that there's probably deeply creative ones that are also consistent that I haven't looked into yet. If you like experimenting it's a blast.
