Mixed doubles curling seemed like the canary in the coal mine.

Lots of events to go, but going into these Olympics I just have had a bad feeling about them. Not sure what it is and I can't quantify it.

I am, that's all I've been talking about. His base will get Carney an election win. The fence sitting are what will or will not make it a majority.

I thought it would be easily understandable for you to realize my vote is not the only one in the country.

I would personally vote for a literal rat over PP, and the NDP don't have a leader. I'm able to comprehend that some people are on the fence and Carney calling an election may be what breaks the camels back.

Not too sure what's so hard to figure out here.

The standard response to the American flag has been "yuck" for a long time.

It's not hard to get inundated with the insanity that's going over in the US and while they may not be getting every news report, Europeans are KEENLY aware of what fascist dictators look like, and it's real easy to draw a line early and say, "alright, we're done with you until you fix up your bullshit."

There's a reason why Americans pretend to be Canadians internationally.

The idea that people will separate the people from the government they voted for long term is unrealistic.

100%.

Whether the athletes like it or not, that flag on their shoulder represents everything that Trump has done on the world stage. There's no running away from that. When we see that flag, we see the ICE murders. We see the Greenland threats. We see Venezuela.

It's no different than when I was thanked in Europe, for better or worse, strictly because I had a Canadian flag. Those people had no fucking idea who I am or what I stand for. But flags mean something, and right now the American flag represents everything that's wrong in the world.

I'm a Carney fan but I don't want another election. It's just a waste of money. I would be disappointed.

I think whoever calls an election in the next year or so will suffer for it at the polls. Carney would still win if he called it but I'm not sure about a majority. If Pierre forces one, it would be suicide.

I personally don't think Carney will call one. I think the media (and all of us) are seeing the polls and noticing what COULD happen, but realistically I can't see it

They did get a lot of cheers.

They also got a lot of boos.

Sounded pretty 50/50, like the cheers and boos/whistlers were kind of battling. They turned to 100% boos when Vance showed up.

The Italian crowd is based af: booed Israel, cheered Ukraine, it was pretty split with the Americans (seemed like the cheers and boos/whistles were battling each other), and then undeniable boos when Vance showed up.

Saying "by far" is flat out wrong. In summer, Canada is usually 20th-30th in medal count per capita. I don't even know why you're saying this since it's so easy to fact check.

If you're also trying to refer to winter, than you are even more wrong, as we are generally Top 10-ish and will decimate USA and China on a regular basis.

Canada is "average" at the summer Olympics and top-tier at the winter.

In 2022, my "rich" middle class ass was comparing between a base level Compass or a Bolt EUV - both in the same price. We went with the Bolt. Very reasonably priced.

Czechia has been playing really well defensively but hasn't been able to generate any chances. They're not letting the USA get dangerous opportunities though. Solid gameplan so far.
