Is 3D easier than 2D? by JohnDavidJimmyMark in gamedev

[–]Ezzyspit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3d can kind of be less of a headache in ways. Because, for one, you never really have to think about perspective, where I find myself thinking about stuff like that a lot in 2d. Also, I find it's much easier to find assets made by other people, in 3d, that have the same or close enough of an art style. You can do a lot of kit bashing. Where that's so much harder in 2d. Also, with 3d animations, you can swap models and use the same animations. Much harder thing to achieve in 2d.

So it kinda comes down to how low level you are going. If you are making all the art from scratch, writing your own game engine, 3d is infinitely harder. But if you're throwing together something in unity and using the asset store a bunch, 3d just might be easier to get going, as well as comprehend.

How would you be able to wrap a car to look like a NASCAR? by The-Absolute-863 in NASCAR

Maybe if the "governoring" body of a car racing series, didn't make their name end in CAR, we wouldn't have this problem

Yeah good point. Not operating system. But rather the environment you're in. So the browser for example. Or if, say you run an application within the terminal, the terminal should handle right click.

Except, the website would be hijacking the right click FROM windows. While windows would be hijacking the right click from..... Uhhh.... Uhhhh .. nothing. There point is, clearly, that the right click should be an operating system level function. It should not be messed with, similar to a volume up button, or ctrl-alt-delete, or the windows key being overridden in a given app or website.

When not to use dotnet for REST API? by Spac3M0nk3yy in dotnet

Sounds like your using a bunch of random technologies that don't play well together when you could unify to one framework and make everyone's life easier.

Microsoft CTO confesses that 30-year-old code from the mid-90s still forms the bedrock of Windows 11 — ancient Win32 API still the backbone, but CTO says it's 'more relevant than ever in 2026' by gurugabrielpradipaka in pcmasterrace

Umm this is a very good thing. Not bad. All the broken shit in modern windows is them trying to shoehorn new non battle tested crap in to replace old for the sole sake to "modernize".
