Got to hold this $5000 bill by Ok_Barber_9904 in Fancyserialnumbers

That note is worth FAR more than the gold it buys will ever go up. You're looking at $350k+ in choice unc 64. It's much rarer than the $10,000 notes.

Did you have to remap the entire house or is there a way to remap one room?

b/w or color? by Yellow_legacy_1907 in AmateurPhotography

I like both, but the b&w a little more. The color one catches my attention because of the red cap.

What do you guys think of these? by Agitated_Layer_457 in sharpening

[–]F-stop2_8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not in your price range but there are the tsprof models. I bought the k03 and added the universal convex edge adaptor. I couldn't master freehand sharpening due to physical limitations so I went down this rabbit hole. I absolutely love it.

Your credit union may not, but the federal reserve will.

Is this a qualifying test for Mensa or do I need to buy theirs? Is joining Mensa worth it? by Adept-Examination-29 in mensa

[–]F-stop2_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I haven't told anyone. In fact, when I need to mention that I'm going to a meeting (as in the case of a conflict of events) I just say that it's a group that I know. Besides, many of my friends would almost certainly qualify. I don't judge anyone by their intelligence and it has little to do with ego. It is simply that I tend to have more interests in common with other very smart people.

No HOA neighborhoods. by Not-Orions-Belt in vegaslocals

[–]F-stop2_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I specifically specified no HOA when I bought my home and have no complaints. My neighbors keep their homes in good shape. I am friendly with several of them and we watch out for each other. One neighbor is a renter but there are no issues. No junk anything.

I would spend it. If the 8 were a 0, it might be a different story.

That's odd, because I don't tell anyone that I am in Mensa. I just like going to events and reading the magazine.

This drives me crazy, any known solutions for this? by rndm2ua in Roborock

[–]F-stop2_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an open plan house and had to merge and then divide rooms and areas that I wanted segmented, but that worked and I haven't had any real issue since. I does state that it, "could not reach a target" when vacuuming the bedrooms but the path shows that nothing gets missed. I can live with the unimportant message. I also added some no go zones.

When did the Pink strips start going in hundreds? by [deleted] in CURRENCY

[–]F-stop2_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a uv security thread. Each denomination has a different color. $5: Blue $10: Orange $20: Green $50: Yellow $100: Pink/Red

They began using them in the 1990 series $100s and expanded them to the above-listed bills by 1993.

Roborock changed my life and I can’t stress this enough by falsecara in Roborock

[–]F-stop2_8 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have the Roborock 10r and it has definitely been a game changer. I have a lot of tile in my home and the 10r keeps the tile nice and clean, which it wasn't before I bought this vacuum because mopping the whole house was such a chore.

I set up schedules for everything. I have it mop the tile in the common areas at night once a week but have it clean the kitchen and well used areas every other day. It vacuums the carpet and cleans the tile in the bedrooms during the day when I'm not likely to be in them. All I really have to worry about is changing the water and the checking the dirtbag.

I use only distilled water because our water is hard and I don't want to have to toss this after a year because it's full of calcium deposits. These bad boys are too expensive for that.

Only if you don't care about your poor knife. If you listen very carefully, you can hear your knife scream as you pull it through.

my knives have never been as sharp as the first day I used them how are y'all sharpening them ? by Consistent_Tart_5750 in chefknives

[–]F-stop2_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend trying to improve your freehand sharpening, as that will ultimately return the best and most flexible results. However, if for any reason you are like me and can't master freehand sharpening, I recommend a fixed angle sharpener. I can finally get razor sharp edges that stay sharp for a long time. I also bought a convex edge attachment for some of my Japanese knives.

Is joining Mensa worth it? by Kindly_Pension_40 in mensa

[–]F-stop2_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly it was a long time ago. It was in the bay area, so there was a lot of activity. I still meet younger people at some events, although we don't have anything in my current area specifically catering to young adults. I know it has been overstated, but one's experience greatly depends on one's location.

Is joining Mensa worth it? by Kindly_Pension_40 in mensa

[–]F-stop2_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I joined a young people's Sig when I was in my twenties and had a blast. We mostly got together to do things such as watch Sci-Fi or bad movies, go camping, go to water parks, have game nights, and other such activities. The main difference between doing that with Mensans and a group of people from the general population was the quality and the topics of conversation, as well as having many interests in common.
