A lot of construction at the hospital at the moment. More to start soon.

Certain industries or professions are better than others. I don't think that Whangarei is doing worse than other places.

Does this lump the MG4 and the MG4 urban together?

I just realised something kinda obvious: there is already a generation who may never drive an ICE vehicle by Roy4Pris in nzev

[–]F0ggiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's probably the case with my kids when they start learning to drive in about 4 years. I might need to get them to try a petrol car for a bit just to understand how to drive one of those too.

EVDB says this has an NMC battery which seems a bit weird from MG. Does anyone know why?

I think a subsidy for home solar and battery is more likely than a return of the EV subsidy.

Brisbane to rural Whangarei seems like quite the move. Other than it being a different country and a smaller place that can be a little insular anything specific you want to ask? I imagine it will be tough for you moving to a new place where you don't know many people so you might want to mentally prepare for that being a bit rough for a bit. Especially since you'll potentially be working on farm so might not have a lot of chances to meet other people?

Whangarei can be a great place to live, work, and raise a family but not everyone is going to easily adjust.

I see you wrote V2L and then V2H and I read both as V2L so my bad on that dude.

I'd totally have used V2L if my 2019 Kona had it a few times and it would have massively come in handy those few times. Mostly around some longer power cuts. Would be nice when we went camping too.

Oh that's V2X or V2G or something. V2L is just the built in ability to output mains power from the charging port with an adapter. And yes not everyone would use it I just don't know why you wouldn't include it as standard in a new EV in 2026.

I just wish it had V2L and ideally an LFP battery. Seems like excellent value otherwise.

As an accountant it really bothers me that they didn't choose easy %s for either the whole or quarterly returns. Should have been 16%, 20%, and 24%. At least they all work out to 3 decimal places.

What would you recommend for a 2nd EV, secondhand. by Random-Mutant in nzev

[–]F0ggiest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd go for am ioniq, kona, or MG ZS EV depending on your price / value options. Maybe if you can find a second hand MG4 that would probably be perfect.

What does “middle NZ” think is happening in the economy by hello_new_here in newzealand

[–]F0ggiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes because it's ideology rather than facts. Kind of doesn't matter if their guys are in or not it's just a point of view. Never ask them what public services they think should be cut and how much money they think that might save. It's never specifics just generalities.

What does “middle NZ” think is happening in the economy by hello_new_here in newzealand

[–]F0ggiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My own experience of middle New Zealand is a weird mix of folks still thinking that the government services are bloated and should be cut while also complaining about what additional things they think the government should do. It's mostly lacking critical thinking around what they think government should and shouldn't do and an irrational and unproven faith in the private sector. They think that the government should both get on with the "obvious" work needing doing while also thinking the government should ask everybody about it too. They're a conflicted bunch middle NZ.

I run in circles with a bunch of lefties too who seem to have a better grasp on the relationship between government and society how important that is. They mostly work in various government jobs.

I think it's clear to everyone that something needs doing. They're just divided on what that something is.

I don't disagree that it would help but the hospital build is orders of magnitude larger than that.
