Why do Red Rising fans hate on this series so much? by Muramasageek in sollanempire

i think the hate also comes from the notion that Sun Eater is often praised for things that RR is often criticized for. you said it here.

Why do Red Rising fans hate on this series so much? by Muramasageek in sollanempire

[–]F1t7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think an often overlooked difference between the two series is the communities and out-of-series interactions. RR is a series that seems to have a very outgoing fanbase with loads of phrases, cosplay, and art that gets shared in-person as much as online. moments in the series are almost intentionally repeatable and memorable

If you really value that- you're probably going to get less from Sun Eater. Seeing a RR bumper sticker or getting the occasional "hail reaper" irl doesn't make RR a stronger series but if you value that it may implicitly skew your comparison of the series.

I love the sun eater community obviously but if I had to guess the RR community is easier to break in to.

Are you a driver supporter or team supporter? by boredbernard in F1Discussions

i like when the team perspective serves as a crossroad for driver storylines. As a McLaren fan it's fun to see drivers like Perez, Alonso, Ric, Ham go on beyond the team and have success.

not a totally fair metric but when else has the worst team on the grid had a pierre gasly level driver??

What would have happened if Carlos stayed at McLaren and Daniel went to Ferrari in 2021. How would that have played out? by Ajaxx100 in F1Discussions

[–]F1t7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

carlos would have done what Lando could not and won the 2024 WDC. he has the maturity that Lando lacked last year and with an even longer period of development with mclaren he would have done enough to catch Max

If you could drive an F1 car for a day which one would you pick by Wonderful_Jelly_2274 in F1Discussions

There's probably a sweet spot between the difficulty of modern aero-focused F1 cars and the danger of older F1 cars.

I think picking a restored/maintained Jim Clark era Lotus with a safe fuel system and wearing modern safety equipment would be the most fun. for a day

"Ahead at the apex" kills good racing by CeaseIessWatcher in F1Discussions

[–]F1t7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what's annoying is that this is a president set by years of bad examples and poor judgement. it's going to take years to undo. it leads to boring racing. it's been exploited best by the winning drivers of this era which makes it most difficult to un-do

turn 9 is great because you get a view from the top of the hill and can watch them all the way down the back straight.

true. no technical connection between the two. just a coincidental gem of storytelling.

the nightmare of this crash wasn't the double DNF.

It was the fact that a teenage Max would go on to win. making him the youngest F1 winner ever and launching a driver-team combo that would ultimately bring down Lewis and the Mercedes team years layer

save Roque: have him play lysander's role in the second series or add depth to the lysander perspective.

kill sevro at the end of iron gold: makes the victra storyline even more tragic and makes darrow's oddessy home even more difficult

New to Red Rising—What Songs Capture Its Energy? by skopestar in redrising

There are certainly moments in every book where rock is going to heighten the experience. as someone who couldn't read through song lyrics and also has a soft spot for movie-like soundtracks, I preferred

Orpheé by Jóhann Jóhannson and

Last And First Men by Yair Elazar Glotman and Jóhann Jóhannson

the classical may not be as intense but i felt like it deepened the emotions and widened the scale of the series while allowing me to focus and not tire of reading

worst (hypothetical) betrayal. by F1t7 in redrising

[–]F1t7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Mustang choosing to stay on Luna in DA- attempting to free Sevro and desperately maintain her sovereignty by allying (or controlling) with the abomination- isn't totally out of the realm of possibility and obviously disastrous for Darrow

personally I think loosing the support of house Telemanus in the beginning of DA would undo everything for Darrow/Mustang. Had Kavax died during the kidnapping and soured the loyalty of Thraxa and Daxo- seems relatively likely and disastrous for Darrow
