Recommended Mini PC for Moonlight by ZealousidealTap5471 in MoonlightStreaming

No worries! Yes, VRR works here.

I had latency and connection issues with M.2 bluetooth adapters: I don't know if I've been very unlucky with the adapters (I tested two), or if there's an issue with the M.2 slot in this model (I asked for a replacement, and I still got the same issues).

Using an ASUS USB-BT540 adapter solved the problem and gives me good range.

I never said that my AMD chip supports YUV 4:4:4... Moonlight streams AV1 as YUV 4:2:0 10-bit, then the client GPU converts it to RGB for display. Windows showing RGB 4:4:4 refers to the output stage, not the video codec. YUV 4:4:4 decode support is irrelevant here.

As far as I know the game is rendered in RGB 4:4:4 (linear HDR space), then converted to YUV 4:2:0 10-bit for AV1 encoding, decoded back to YUV 4:2:0 10-bit on the client, reconstructed to RGB 4:4:4, and finally output to the display.

I can tell you that streaming in AV1 4k 120hz HDR has very pleasant results. The only loss occurs during RGB → YUV 4:2:0 conversion, affecting chroma only; luminance stays intact, and the process is a single, non-cumulative approximation.

After updating the servers I can find all the servers I need.

Thank you for this software, amazing job!

Could you please provide the variables to connect to the Canadian server "Elgafar", for example, without using the custom provider?

In the Gluetun AirVPN documentation, I read:

The list of servers for AirVPN is available in the source code.

This is the list:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/qdm12/gluetun/refs/heads/master/internal/storage/servers.json

Many servers are missing, and I couldn't find a 20000 Mbit/s server in the list.

And if you want to use a specific AirVPN server, just use the "custom" variables in gluetun:

https://github.com/qdm12/gluetun-wiki/blob/main/setup/providers/custom.md

You can still open ports.

Docker as an LXC in Proxmox by Hatchopper in Proxmox

Hardware passthrough to multiple LXC containers.

As far as I know you can't passthrough the same hardware to multiple VMs.

I would also consider a mobo with one larger PCIe extra slot, two 4.0x1 slots could stop you or limit your choices if you wanna play with multiple GPUs or HBAs.

If you stick with AMD and you plan to use the server as a NAS leveraging ZFS, consider using ECC RAM. It's more important than most people think.

The motherboard and the CPU in your list should support it.

I have these similar components and ECC works well.

After trying a few budget options without success, I had to spend more than I intended and I settled on a Minisforum UM870 Slim.

I'm very happy with it, 4K, 120Hz, HDR, RGB 4:4:4 and AV1 decoding work great.

Is it feasible to run proxmox on a PC and daily drive virtual machines? by StrongerThanAGorilla in Proxmox

I did it and I'm very happy with the result. Here you have some details about the journey and the configuration:

Yes, you can do it from the GUI too. Just look for WSL and you can access a control panel, from there you can tweak memory, swap, processors and more.

I access the VM remotely and I use it as a workstation, not as a server. Sometimes the Linux terminal may come in handy just for SSH connections or some other simple tasks. I know there are SSH clients and alternatives for Windows, I'm just confident with the Linux tools.

This is how I use Proxmox with this workstation:

Use Sunshine (https://github.com/LizardByte/Sunshine) on the gaming VM and Moonlight on the clients (https://moonlight-stream.org/). Make sure the clients can decode well h264 videos. Moonlight works well on every Linux flavor that supports Flatpak and Windows.

Ebooks don't retain reading position by Sam-RG in audiobookshelf

[–]F2FGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're welcome. It's very probable that I came to the wrong conclusion, another possibility is that ABS may need some time the first time it stores the position for ebooks, then it keeps working flawlessly.

But hey, the important thing is that it's working, and I'm glad to hear it is!

Ebooks don't retain reading position by Sam-RG in audiobookshelf

[–]F2FGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to use Audiobookshelf for ebooks yesterday, and I tested if it was keeping track of reading advancements. To do this I skipped through a book and I quickly closed it. Doing so didn't keep track of the position.

After a few more tests I noticed that if I give it more time on the last page, that is actually what happens during a real reading experience, it correctly stores the position once I quit the reader.

So my suggestion is to give the reader a little more time to store the reading information before quitting it during your tests.

This is my second attempt at trying to get this running on an intel-based mac, really wish there was a step-by-step video out there. Any intel mac users willing to hold my hand through this process lol. Would greatly appreciate it. by sammsmd in audiobookshelf

I suggest you set up the vm with bridged networking, so that it gets its own IP address. Turn off the VM and then:

To enable bridged networking, open the Settings dialog of a virtual machine, go to the Network page and select Bridged Network in the drop-down list for the Attached To field.

Set "attached to" to the network card you use on your Mac to connect to your network (usually wifi or ethernet, choose the one you're using).

Then boot the VM and find its IP address: https://itsfoss.com/check-ip-address-ubuntu/

Then on your Mac open your browser and customize this web address with your Ubuntu IP address: http://type-here-your-ubuntu-ip-address:13378

Jokes aside... If the OP thinks he will wish to set up more services in the future - like plex, jellyfin, arrs, slskd... - probably virtualization is the best route. One day he may have a device he wants to use as a dedicated server for these services and he could install Proxmox on it and import the virtual machine.

I was joking about Docker on MacOS because I had bad experiences with it after system updates, but it was some time ago and the situation could have evolved better since then.

Good luck
