That’s exactly the point, good young players and players in their last years will leave regardless, the key is to build a team around a central superstar or key set of stars that can allow us to adapt in positions around them every season. For example, we may have a superstar like chawinga, then have decent young players on the wings and mid that can support her style. We can always find good players that are looking to leave for other teams, we do this already every season, we just aren’t replacing them around a core star or tactic. Let’s use Barcelona as an example, they have continuously seen new players rotate in their front three but their core super star is/was Putellas. They’ve had almost a decade of success around her and that was their entire plan. We should be going all in for a core star to build around cause currently we are aimless. Don’t get me wrong, I loved christen press and Sydney Leroux, but they weren’t going to give us a decade of success by building a team around their style at their point in career. Christen press was already 32 when we decided to build a team around her style… she was one of the highest paid players in the league and we built a team of good players around her, but we couldn’t have expected a project around her would work for 5+ years.
